The question I have and I am really getting frustrated. I seem to have stalled after losing 20 or so pounds over the last two months....I am eating right...and doing my exercise...but the scale has not moved in the last week...as a matter of fact it went up 2 pounds... I am thinking this is muscle.  I am really trying hard not to backslide...but I really feel myself slipping...I just need something ..any thing to help me get this last 40 pounds off.  I know  myself....and pretty soon I will get in a F* it mood.... Really...just laying this confesson here is helping me get a grip to be honest. I will be calling my Angel tomorrow but I am open to any suggestions to kick start this tomorrow.  Thanks.

I'm a newbie, but I know I've seen on the RNY board today that if you are losing inches, you're not stalled.

Girl, if you gained muscle - be glad!  good luck!!

Thanks KSK for your words of encouragement...I am really trying to get out of my own head.  I know for a fact that I am not in good company right now.  I appreciate it.

well, maybe you'll return the favor when I get to your point - if any of y'all can stand my bytching and moaning!!!

Go put on Donald Lawrence's "Encourage Yourself".

Better yet, here you go, sweetie! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c6yhgFxDQMw

I HAVE to play this every now and again, b/c I get down and discouraged.

Speak over yourself! Encourage yourself in the Lord!

Chin up, sista!!!

Thanks so much KSK...I most def will return the favor. I do have bouts of depression every now and  then....can't be helped. Even though I have been on this road for a while now....there are days when I feel very  new at it to be honest...just trying to make it.  Unfortunately....folks in my circles do not think very positively of WLS...so I chose not to share about it. When I wasn't doing what I knew I should be doing, I stayed away from this board like the plague.  Please know that the journey is worth it. I have no regrets....and would choose this path...if I had it to do all over again. Now...let me go and reread some of my blog....need to remind myself where I been so that I can see where I am going. Have a good evening.

Note to Self:

Woke up feeling much better this am.  Think I might have a plan.  I know I had problems with the detox...simply got tired of nothing but veggies.  I am going to go back to the basics and keep it simple.  I figure if I do protein only liquids for a week...I should be able to get my weight to move....so starting today this is what I am going to do.  I do still plan to exercise 3-5 days a week. If anyone *****ads this thinks this is a bad plan....please let me know.

Just speaking for me and nobody else the liquids for a week wouldn't work. Too much like a diet. We had these surgeries to make lifestyle changes and never diet again. If diets had worked none of us would have been fat. You say you're working out....are you eating enough? Maybe your body is holding on to every calorie for dear life in fear that it's not getting enough. Try upping your protien, water, cut out the simple carbs and stick with complex ones. Keep at your workout. It will come off, you have to be patient. You didn't gain it all in a blink of an eye and it will take time to lose it. When you get down towards the end of your loss portion of the journey the weight comes off slower.

I'm right here with you with my last 33 pounds too.

ETA: I'm sorry I just noticed that you had your surgery 5 years ago. I was thinking you had it last year like me.

Thanks so much Star..... I tell you when I get desperate..(common sense goes out the window).  This of course make so much sense as I read it now.  I can just visualize these 40 pounds gone...so that I can get my stomach cut off....tired of looking at it.  You most definitely are right....it took me years to accumulate all that weight....I will be more patient.  I really appreciate you for taking the time to respond. Have a good day.

VSG on 12/20/07 with
piggybacking  - this is what a nut told me a hunnit years ago and it stuck:  think of your body like a wood burning fireplace, every 2 hours or so, you need to add a log in order to keep the fire going, quit adding logs and the fire goes out.  your metabolism works exactly the same way.   the calories you're getting now are being used during your workouts, your body is hoarding the rest because it doesn't know the difference between dieting and starvation.    eat more food, more often whether you're hungry or not because the point is to train your metabolism to work constantly and steadily throughout the day instead of stopping and starting 3 times a day.  sorry i know that was a mouthful, but it's what worked for me every time i stalled.  more (quality) calories, more often.   wood burning fireplace.  hth

Wow!!!! I am definitely going to log this one in and keep it MarloT.  I can see how this just might be my problem.  I do breakfast lunch and dinner with 2 snacks (consisting of practically nothing). I am going to start by making my snacks protein (like a shake or bar) rather then the more common applesauce or fruit. This will increase my intake to about 1400 and also spread it out a little. Thanks for the advice and for taking the time to post. Have a good one.
