Everyone I have really been upset all during today. I'm just now having the courage to type this as it is too embarassing. Today I went to a new gyno dr . Again I am embarassed by posting this but I will write it as clean as possible. Basically after the doctor was finished he made a stupid comment. The comment was and I quote " I thought that I would have a lot of problems during your exam".    I stated why?    Then this quack said because  you are very obese. Here I am sitting in the office with my jaw dropped for a minute. Then I stated.   WHY was it necessary for you to mention that in such a statement ??????   If you were able to complete the exam with no problems then why be ignorant and mention this after the fact????  You are done with my exam now!!!  There was no need to say this to me. I do not mind if a doctor mentions to me that they are concerned about me being obese and wanting to know what I am going to do about it. But to make a statement like  this was uncalled for unless you were willing to discuss my obesity like a concerned dr and not like you thought that completing my exam was going to be a chore and let alone tell the patient what you thought when the exam was already OVER!!!!!!!   My exam went smooth sailing so why mention your idiotic thoughts!!!    I felt like that a professional would have discussed his concerns about my obesity rather than make a statement such as that .If he would have acted  like he was concerned than I would have glady mentioned the WLS to him.. So people just let anything come out of their mouths without thinking. It is a shame. It is hard enough to deal with obesity. It  certainly makes you feel bad when a Dr makes a stupid statement rather than act like they are professional and  concerned about your weight and health.

I'm sorry you had to experience such ignorance.  One thing I decided to do a long time ago...was to switch to a female gynecologist...and one who understood a woman's body...whether short, tall, fat, skinny...someone who was compassionate and caring.

I've been her patient for over 20 years!

Yo I'd fire that dude. You are his customer and if you don't like the service you get a new one. I've switched many times over the years till I felt warm and cozy with mine. That was a terrible comment. Shoot your feet were in prime kicking position to give his nuts a wake up call LMAO

Ummm - I don't know you - but I feel the need to tell you that I am known for being a bit brash - so don't take this offensive.......

I don't see the upset.  He's thinking out loud and while you might have wanted that comment not to be said - it's still his truth.  It's painful, yes - but the truth upside the head is sometimes a good thing.  I had a MRI done back when I was 350+ and the dude didn't say anything to me about my weight before he went poking around in my back to inject dye into my spine - he ended up poking a hole in my spinal cord - fluid leakage and mad complications after that - wish that dude had said he was gonna have trouble cause my azz was so big.......

MM I did not take your comment for offense but this is where I disagree. As I stated in my post I am use to a doctor pressuring me too loose weight and expressing their concerns about it. Just like your Dr and this Dr if you think that you are inexperienced, scared, etc on messing with an obese person because you are afraid that you cannot get the job done, injure, you, or etc than why not sit down and explain their concerns and fears and let you know the possible risk????? .It is their job to let you know their  concerns BEFORE the fact and not AFTER they have done the job. You are right what if he would've hurt me unintentionally but what could I have done then if he knew that he was uncomfortable in the first place. My point is that if he felt that he was going to injure me or not be able to get the job done than I would have politely told him  that I need another doctor or asked him to refer me to someone that he felt was more comfortable to examine me because of my weight. This is why you talk to your doctors before any examining happens and that is what I did.I told him my concerns with my health and he should've been professional and told me his concerns about examining me because of my weight. But give me that right as a patient to decide if BOTH of us are comfortable if you think that you are going to have problems and why .Again my point is discuss your concerns with your patient before you touch them and not afterwards whatever that they may be.I  could not have gotten mad with him for acting professional and telling me the truth about my weight but there is a way to be stern and professional about bringing up any issues .Yes the truth does hurt but tell me before rather than after you go messing up my arse and could cause problems.

Some years ago a neurosurgeon actually refused to operate on my spine because of my size.  He told me I could come back if lost 50 pounds.  At the time I was terribly hurt and offended, but now I understand why he said what he did.

Morbid Obesity affects us in ways in which many of us are unaware.  A lot of the time medical professionals won’t say anything about weight to people because they are afraid they will offend.  The truth is it is difficult for them to do physical exams because they literally can’t feel the organs and other anatomical landmarks through all that fat.  Also, most medical equipment is not designed to accommodate the weight and dimensions of morbidly obese patients so they might not receive the same quality of care as a smaller person.

So sorry you experienced that. Quite unnecessary. Thankfully I've been dealing w/ the same woman since I got pregoo after I had WLS.  She is fabulous since she took the time to learn about what I should be doin.  It is now like having two Surgeon's on my case.
