The best Non WLS advice I ever got.......

My grandmother told me once when I told her about not wanting to work things out with a friend I was mad at....

"Even the best of friends, fall out.  Your teeth and your tounge are best of friends and work together always, but every now and then you will bite your tounge accidentally.  Does that mean you just pull all your teeth?  No you just start over and be more careful as you chew"

That taught me to really overcome simple or small things and I have actually kept most of my friends in life.  But it taught me that I didn't have to cross people out of my life because they wronged me, I just had to be more careful when dealing with them.  I really learned forgiveness from that quote.

Hey MM:
My Mom was good for saying, "There is NOTHING NEW Under The Sun." When I got older I understood it>>>Same shyt, different day, even 100/200/2000 years ago!  She also enjoyed saying "Rolling Stones gather No Moss." Took me many years to get this on the Spiritual Level; when I was younger I thought it meant that I SHOULD move around as much as possible so my Life would not become stale and dusty. As I got older I understood that if I wanted to accumulate material goods, have a successful career I needed to be in one place for a while. As I matured, I began to understand that I needed to become settled in Myself, not tossed to and fro like a ship in a storm. Stability and soundness Inside and outside no matter where I am.  I finally understand now that to most sayings, scripture...there are at least 3 levels - knowledge, understanding and Wisdom. When a person hit those 2 and 3 level, LIFE will change!

My Grandmother used to tell us: Manners will get you where money won't. I can do a dissertation on this because as one grows "manners" have different and deep meanings. She also said: Don't Nobody money spend like your own!" For real, on any level!

More recently I heard a saying by Mike Tyson that totally blew me away, it reasonated so deeply in me because it was a play on another saying that I got from a friend. My friend said, "These young people could not fight their way out of a paper bag." (That weaker but wiser thing; they know stuff but can't execute it, more is open to them but they can't cope, they need more "props", "strokes"...) Mike Tyson said: Everyone has a plan until they get hit! My Lord, that encompasses every station of Life! That's Deep!!! I believe it was Prophet Muhammad who said, "Man plans and GOD Plans, and who is the BEST of Planners?" This is a lesson I'm being taught now, about not out planning My Guidance (I call it out-running my head lights)...setting Goals that I lock into that are NOT mine to set in the first place and when those Goals do not come to pass I beat myself up or think that I am a failure or continue to beat my head against the wall trying to get something that is NOT for Me. That is why  I am soooo glad that GOD is Merciful, HE lets Me knock my head a bit (because I'm stubborne) then HE directs Me back to where HE wants Me in HIS Unique way of dealing with Me, then I get it, I see the Wisdom!

My mother used to tell me:

- Every tub has to sit on its own bottom
- What makes you laugh can make you cry
- The grass is not always greener on the otherside
- People that smile in your face are not always your friend

When I was a young girl my preacher's wife had two sayings:

Good, better, best, never let it rest, until your good is better and your better is the best...

and

I know I am somebody 'cause God don't make no junk

My grandmother used to tell me
1. Never get old

2. Never get fat( now I understand why she was always telling me this)

3. What's done in the dark always comes to the light.

4.  In the end, all you have is family.

I love these:

A Woman's heart should be so lost in GOD that a man needs to seek him in order to find her.

Your talent is God's gift to you. What you do with it is your gift back to God.

The Bible, Matthew 17:20
I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, "Move from here to there" and it will move.

Jesus
The kingdom of Heaven is within you... Seek ye first the kingdom of Heaven and all things will be added unto you.

The Bible, John 8:32
The truth shall make you free.

Wait I have three more:

Psalms 30:5
Weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.

As you sow, so shall you reap.

"If you love somebody, set them free. If they return, they were always yours. If they don't, they never were."
