2 Questons about Protein

Hi everyone,
I've just started my 2 week liquid diet this week, and am in the process of ordering my vitamins and protein supplements. My first question is do I really need to order both the unjury and nectar or will one suffice for stage one?  My second question is about the Oh Yeah, RTD protein shakes.  If I am reading the label correctly, this shake can be used in stage two right? it has 4g of carbs, 32g of proteins, and 220 calories, I tried one last week and I liked it but I'm a lil concerned about the calories and price.  Any info will be greatly appreciated.  Thanks alot!!

Regina

By the way, I've been trying to drink these EAS Myoplex Carb Control RTD shakes (french vanilla) this week and in my opinion they are horrible (really watery) but affordable.  Can anything be added to them to make them taste better? I need all the help I can get.  Thanks again, I look forward to all of your very useful replies.

Hello Regina

Your taste will change
Your taste will change
Your taste will change

There, I said it three times.

I would only get samples for now.  You can get a sample pack from Nectar for $9.99. You can only get 11 single serve packets, that's a great way to get some variety. Lots of different flavors - lemonade, chocolate, tea...some of everything. Their number, if you are interested, is 866-333-7403 x 718.  Their hours are Mon - Fri, 8am - 5pm Central Time.

Make sure to purchase "isolated whey protein" only. This is the best since it's easily absorbed.

Good luck with your diet and upcoming surgery!

I wouldn't buy too many protein shakes right now...your tastes are sure to change.  I happen to love the Vanilla Unjury, I use this as creamer in my decaf coffee or Chai tea.

The Syntrax Nectar Twisted Cherry and Roadside Lemonade are my all time favorites, you can get a lot of variety out of them by using different flavors of SF Kool-Aid  or Crystal Lite.

I didn't do RTD shakes regularly because of the cost, but the Atkins shakes were good to me.  I haven't tried the other varieties.

Thanks for the advice.  I guess with all my nervousness I am trying to fill my days with something to do...I figured getting all this stuff ahead of time is what I needed to do...I'll probably get some samples and see how that goes.

Oh yeah, let me answer your questions...

My first question is do I really need to order both the unjury and nectar or will one suffice for stage one?

No, I would only order one. You will probably lose the taste for it.

If I am reading the label correctly, this shake can be used in stage two right?

Dunno...never had it before.

I would suggest grabbing samples at your local GNC store.  What tastes great now could definitely change.  I can honestly say I could not get in the swing of any of the proteins.  However, because it was necessary I just made myself ingest it.  Best of wishes to you on this marvelous journey.

Hugs,
Free Butterfly

Thanks for the suggestion and best wishes, I didn't know GNC did samples.  When I was looking around and asking questions the sales associate did not even mention the possibility of getting samples.  Guess I should have asked.

Hey there!

I agree with the previous folk - don't stock up on a whole lot of stuff because you tastes will go on a serious rollercoaster ride after surgery.  And then every so often after that.  LOL - I have ended up getting physically sick from things I used to love and gobble up like PacMan - then one day it's oh hell NAW!!!

So - just get samples to start off with - check with your doc as far as if he says one protein source is better for stage I or not.  I drink the Oh Yeah! shakes - love them to DEF - and I buy mine from a wholesaler.  You might want to research bodybuilder nutrition stores in your area - they typically stock protein shakes that have little or no sugar, as our regime post WLS is a lot like a bodybuilder's.  They are pricey - but hey - how much were you spending on fast food and clothes to fit your large size?  Aren't YOU worth the investment?  That's how I looked at it anyway.  I am religious about having my hair and nails done, so I took the same approach to paying my gym membership and my supplements - it MUST be done!

Good luck to you!!

I don't just have issues, I have subscriptions!  I'm saving on the newsstand price.......

Thanks, and you're right I am worth the investment so after I talk to my doctor I'll know which way to go.  Others have listed places where I can get samples so I'll definitely start there before making large purchases.  I'm just one of those people who doesn't like to be prepared.  Thanks again!
