Newbie Question about excercise

 What excercises are good to start out with after surgery and should I start them now to get used to it? I haven't excercised in years and have a bad knee, so I know I won't be running ever!  I wanna do this thing right and get my sexy back!

swim aerobic most YMCA have this class and you can have your doc give you a script for aqua physical thearphy if you are still having joint problems

 You know I haven't even thought of water aerobics. Thanks for bringing that to my attention. I am definitely gonna look into that!

I walk.  At first it was a slow paced walk now it's a power walk to the music.  I also do some yoga and want to try pilates.

Thanks guys! All your advice makes me feel more certain that I can do this and its not going to be too difficult.  I really hope that I can get back to being the physical person I once was.

YMCA here is twice the price if not 3 times the price of a regular gym.

Please clear it with your Dr. before you start. I want to do water aerobics too but I can't for at least another 4 weeks. I just had the surgery. I don't know how far out you are or any of your specifics but if you just had the surgery run it past the surgeon first.

Walking is the best exercise to start out with. I just back at the gym since I had my surgery. I started out using weight room  2 days a week for toneing ,lifting no more than 15-20 pounds. I ride the bike for 30 minutes and use the exulptic machine 30 minutes. Then some days I take classes for 1 hour.
Take it slow .              GoodLuck
