OT Question: For the folks that believe the bible LITERALLY

But anywho, I am not a bible scholar, but I do believe the bible is true. In the Christian faith, I was taught that the Old Testament was the book of the law, and there was a time when we (mankind, because I hadn't came along yet) were judged by the law. However, Christ came to fulfull the law and lived blameless. He then died for our sins (future) because the wage of sin was death (thus all the dying quoted in those verses). A lot of the hypocrites and pharassies (sp) of Jesus' day tried to trick him into saying the law was wrong, but Jesus did not say that he simply reminded the biblical scholars that all had sinned and fallen short of the Word of God - the LAW! Which is why when the hypocrites of the day wanted to stone the woman, Jesus said let he without sin cast the first stone - and in shame they all walked away. Now when Jesus died he paid the price for all of our sins and therefore we are not bound by law - but saved by Grace - Which is a gift of God so that no man can boast.
Now with that said, the issue is not the Word of God or Salvation. It is a choice of whether to believe that Jesus paid the price for all of our sins. In God's eye there is no little or big sin. Which is why I think it is so messed up that a 'godly sister in the church' who is getting her hoochie coo on - on the regular can tear down someone else in the church for being homosexual. My theory on this - while I am trying not to be long winded (too late for that) is a lot of people in the church are wounded and suffer from lack of self esteem. They don't feel good about themselves unless they are putting someone else down. When ever you hear someone go on and on about being saved and listing the things they DONT do no more as evidence, you know that they are not truly saved because God does not require you EARN salvation or keep a list of DONT'S to prove it. You just accept his love and that he died for you and your sins. The problem is not the WORD of God because its faultless, the problem is the people of God thinking more highly of themselves than they ought and elevating themselves as judge over someone else. God loves you just as much as he loves me (and if you think thats not much because whe have whorish tendancies - lol - you are wrong) He loves us all the same and has equal opportunity for access. Jesus did not hang with the people who were doing everything right, he came for the people who needed a saviour.

No but I can certainly feel where you are coming from...and I greatly appreciate your reply because you kinda make sense to me...not that I would apply it per se to my life but I have gained a better understanding of yours

No, I haven't seen the hand of God picture - but I am sure it wouldn't suprise me. People are always looking for signs and wonders because they just cant accept the simplicity of the whole salvation deal. When you think about it, it is kind of funny. If someone at the bank was giving away free millions you wouldn't be breaking your neck to say - "Hold on, let me give you some of this back I don't deserve it - You would just take it and keep it moving and enjoy all that the million had to offer". I think salvation is worth more than that and yet people cant just accept the free gift, keep it moving and enjoy it. They would much rather use it to berate some one else and to me thats just STUUUUPPPIIIDDDD!!!

1. EVERY WORD cannot be taken literally because there are various historical meanings & translations that should be studied in order to read the bible in its true context.
2. In the bible the word "man" is often times used as a generalization for both sexes. So when a verse says "man" you can apply it to wo"man" as well.
3. Contrary to what has been taught and believed by the masses...Christianity is NOT a religion, it is a relationship with God the Father through Jesus Christ.
4. As we all know we people are involved in a relationship, it is not built upon following rules, but getting to know one another. And the more familiar you become with one another, the more you want to please him/her.
5. How do you get to know Jesus? You get to know him just like you get to know your SO. You allow Him to share your life, you spend time talking to Him (prayer), spend time listening to Him (His word aka the bible), you follow your instincts on pleasing Him and the relationship will grow because He will do things for you as well. He will restore your trust, heal your past hurts, give you clear vision for your life and life's situations, love you like you've never been loved and so much more and you will be able to have this relationship for eternity.
It is a beautiful path to take.
