OT Question: For the folks that believe the bible LITERALLY
its no deeper than that. do i believe a man lived in the belly of a whale? nah, not really. can you take a fish sandwich & some wine and feed the masses? probably not. but from reading those stories, you can see examples on how to live life the right way.
the way i see it, the bible was written by Man so Man put his spin on it. the king james version is just that....his VERSION. its filled with his own personal feelings.
i don't think homosexuality is an abomination. its just something people do. i aint one of those people so what do i care? do what you do.
there are lots of things that qualify as abominations. among them are:
liars
cheaters
murderers
rapists
child molesters
brokeness
loud suits with too many buttons
women who don't swallow
the redskins
the celtics
non alcoholic beer
eating wings with ranch instead of blue cheese
ronald reagan
********ity
you want abominations? THOSE are abominations.
bwahhhhh you ain't shiot!!!
No but seriously Sam were you around when I asked that question? I asked about the whole lady turning to a pillar of salt thing and folks say they believed it whole heartedly!
folks living hundreds of years...noah's ark..ALL of it they believe happened..you would be surprised wish I could find that post
I know I was taught that King James himself was a gay man with a drinking problem from one religion I followed for a minute....crazy though how any person can take that one book and tailor it for its own needs
I also read that only 144,000 are going to enter the gates of heaven...dayummm given those odds I sho' am gonna have a whole lotta company in hell!

I heard that JW do not believe in Hell or the concept of Hell...from a JW. Strictly speaking, they do not believe in Hell the same way that a Christian does. I was speaking as a Christian to RoRo and what your religion teaches is not the Christian portrayal of Hell--JW teaches that hell is the common grave of mankind when they die and since JW believe that you are not concious at death (i.e. soul) you simply will stay in "hell" if you do not believe and therefore are not resurrection.
Hell is ENTIRELY different to Christians.
As for the 144,000 again I am speaking from a Christian perspective. In the JW religion the majority of JW will not take communion nor take their place in heaven. Unless you were one of the roughly 9000 still on Earth or those prior to 1935, you will live on Earth once resurrected.
Furthermore, the 144,000 that are discussed in Relvelations are Jews that have been marked by God during the tribulation years to help proclaim the gospel during this time. 12 tribes of Israel--12,000 Jews from each tribe...144,000 people. They are the "firstfruits" of God as they are the first set of Jews who will be saved and take their place in Heaven as they have accepted Jesus Christ as their true Messiah. Just as these Jews are going to Heaven, anyone else who has accepted Jesus as their Lord & Savior will accept the gift of salvation---eternal salvation not resurrection onto Earth.
John 3:15-16 says that whoever believes in Him should not persish but have eternal life. Timothy also speaks of God desiring all men to be saved and come to the knowledge of truth. This speaks clearly to me that the 144,000 is not applicable--as eternal salvation is a gift for all, not a specific number. This is anyones for the taking as long as they accept Jesus Christ.
I have read in the past about JW and am even more well-read now after the recent battle with my friend over blood transfusions.
The simple way to remember about JW is they believe in HEAVEN, HELL, and PARADISE. However, HELL does not burn....the wage of sin is DEATH.....and JW are CHRISTIANS....and
Imma leave that alone because I argue and debate many things, but NEVER the bible.
