Okay BAF family, please tell me the reasons why u love your RNY pouch and that the surgery and after life is not that bad?? I'm so fearful of throwing up and constipation that I have always dismissed getting a pouch. I also have fibromyalgia and know that it could only help me to loose this weight and give these knees, ankles and joints a much needed break. I already know that no weight loss surgery will cure Fibro, but I figured that I can at least help elevate some of the pain of the extra weight.

I know 2 people at my job who have had it done and have had problems. I know that you can and will have this with any type of WLS, one is hard headed and didn't pay attention to what she could and could not eat, and the other had a closing of you pouch that they have fixed and since she has been great.

So please come and tell me that you rock the heck out of your pouch and would not have changed it for nothing!!! (I also have a sweet tooth and think this surgery may be a blessing because it would keep me fearful of trying to sneak and eat sweets)

I LOVE my pouch and would not change it for the world and I think I've rocked it lol

I only researched the band and RNY because those were all my insurance covered and this was def a good choice for me. If you follow the rules and have a good surgeon and staff you should have minimal issues.

Good luck!

Haven't had anything done... but I do have FMS too.  My lil pixie stick of a cousin suffers far worse than I do...  Just wnated to let u know you weren't the only one on here w/ FMS.  There's a forum too, but I haven't gone on there but once = depressing.. With the exception of last year on and off for 4-5 months, I hadn't had a flair since 2001.
I have an @$$h*le, therefore I have an opinion. or two... or forty.

Don't forget to check out all your options. There's the DS. I have the sleeve stomach with added malabsorption. This malabsorption helps in the maintenance phase of your journey and also allows you to have a freeer post-op diet.

Don't forget you can't count on th epouch to curb sweets cravings. Everyone does not dump! I enjoy sweets in moderation and love it!

Check out: dsfacts.com and duodenalswitch.com. Also there's a DS forum here on OH.

I am LOVING my DS!!!!!

Hi Hopegirl66...I am only 4 months out and I have NO REGRETS...No throwing up and/or constipation...I eat healthy but if the time and place calls for it I treat myself...I was not a sweets eating person so that does not bother me...I can eat many many things and do not feel deprived at all...The only other option for me would have been the DS as Shani mentioned already but I have no regrets at all about RNY...It is a l ifestyle change that I am loving...I know people who failed their surgery and others that have did and continue to do great...The ones that failed it always say that they have no regrets and would do it all over again...Good luck in your decision.

I am sorry the sleeve didn't work out for you.  Like some of the other posters mentioned, look into the DS also.  I was self-pay and sqeamish about rerouting the intestines, so that's why I chose the sleeve.  If my insurance had covered WLS, I would have chosen the DS.
