Private Profiles
Good deal,
I feel the same way. I am a newbie around here and I am here for the sole purpose: to communicate and to get knowledge and inspiration from others that face the same battles that I face. There are not a lot of people in my personal life that I can truly turn to about WLS, either b/c they don't need it or b/c they don't understand it. So for that, I appreciate you and others that let me in their world.
Thanks
Prin

I don't have mines private. When I was researching surgery and going through my process I lived for seeing people's pictures and reading what made people choose such a drastic procedure to change their lives. I also searched profiles to get an idea of what my body might look like after surgery. It really helped me out when people told the good, bad and ugly about WLS.
I only have my myspace private and that's because I had some run in with an ex and another ex's women tracking me down. Here I'm not really worried about that.

Hi Monique...my profile is private because I wanted it that way...Nothing to personal on there...After reading the post and comments I might just make mines public...No big deal...I would request people as friends even if public so that I could use their stories as motivation.

back in my day, the old heads taught us to keep our business close....don't let em know your next move.
the grown me still carries it that way. today's blog/twitter/facebook culture gives people WAY TOO MUCH ACCESS and it wigs me out.
right now my profile aint private but there's nothing on it. once i start posting more pics and saying more about myself, it'll be private.
i just don't like the idea of people matchin my government name to my face to my online actions. and all that happens without me knowing that they're lookin at me. that wigs me out.
if you want to know how "out there" you are, try Googling your government name. then Google the different screen names you use on various forums and message boards. what you find is what anybody can find out about you.

I agree with you Big Sam...that why its so important to NOT post your government name, email address or any other personal identifying info on websites. Its also a good idea to mix your usernames up a bit because if you are consistently using the same one...it creates a traceable trail. This is important because (while I have a public page and like to be an open book)....we need to be aware that employers (HR professionals) do try to track internet activities for potential employees. You might be overlooked for a job and not even have a clue as to why.
