Private Profiles

I haven't been coming to BAF for too long, but since I have I've tried to check out people's stories or send someone a message (like I was just trying to do) but couldn't. I'm just curious is there a reason why so many of your profiles are private? Am I missing something here? It is starting to make me wonder if I should have mine private as well.

Some have there profiles private because they may write personal stuff they don't want all to see, or for whatever reason.
You can request to be there friend by hitting the contact button under their posts.  Most will be glad to share with you, they just don't want any and everybody being able to google their name and the profile page comes up.

I don't have my profile set to private. I debated with it. Especially after spending some time on BAF . Someone even tried to encourage me to do it to keep the nosey's away. I thought about it and I am pretty much an open book kinda of person. Anyone who knows me knows my deal. I remember when I first found this site and I would gobble up people stories as much as I could. I related to these people and to see them have such good results encouraged me. I would get so disappointed when I would see private profiles because I didn't know the person and felt funny requesting them to be my friend when I never had any interaction with them. So for that reason I choose to keep my page unprivate. If I can serve to be an inspiration to someone in the future then I want to do so. If someone malcious comes along and wants to snatch my picture off my profile and put it in a post so be it. My page aint private anyway anyone can see it anyway. LOL. When contemplating WLS it was and is a very scary process and it helps to read others stories. So for that reason I will never make my page private.

That is exactly how I feel. I've interacted with couple of people that I really wanted to know their story and even thought about sending a friend request, but I felt really funny about it. Then when I couldn't figure out how to add them anyway I just said forget it.

I agree totally, that is why my page is open to any and everybody too. In real life I am much more private, but I feel like my story could help someone here and I blog often.
