Things do change after wls....I know I dont get excited about events that involve food anymore. Also I always hope they are serving something healthy when I do go.

I agree things do change...I am looking very forward to vacation this year... Yes food is a big part of "our" lives but once you start losing the weight and gain more energy your focus will change.

Don't worry, that's just a phase most go through.  Food is such a big part of our lives pre-op....we can't help but relate events with food.

As time passes (post-op)  I have started to gain my enthusiasm back.  Not for the eating/food...but for the new energy I have gained to do more things and enjoy the vacation, (event, whatever)....even more.

Just to give you an example:  I have always loved to travel, but before my WL, I hated the whole airport/airplaane ride experience.  All that walking and getting out of breathe at the airport, and the dreaded seatbelt thing on the plane.  Now, I don't even give it a second thought.

Little things like that makes missing the food and eating so trivial.  The Wow moments help keep you going.

I hope that made sense.

I have similar thoughts.  I am mourning foods that I know I will not be able to eat such as Subway sandwhiches.  But I'm hoping that I will develop new interests because of the weight loss to help keep my mine off food so much.

Family Bar b ques not gonna be the same.  Dang!!

I was like that right before surgery too.  I wa****ting my favortie food holidays too.  Now here it is Easter and I don't miss food like I used to before surgery.  Now eating is like, oh yeah, dang I gotta eat something before I pass out.  You'll have a great summer because you won't be as heavy as last summer.  That's always a great thing to look forward too.

I must admit the entusiasm did go down a little....However last summer i was 302 today I weigh 210, so that means more to me than a plate of food.  Not to mention everybody around you gonna already be staring at you so they can see how much or little  food you eat...

I HATE THAT!!!

Highest weight 302...Current weight...183
