Hi BAF!

I'm close to a month out and I just started back to work this week.  I find I am missing my old friend/ enemy  food..I'm not hungry and not tempted to eat outside of my plan - but I miss the quick pick me up, the quick mood enhancer ,the looking forward to what I was going to eat  etc..  What did you find to replace this in the day to day?  Also, I am finding get my liquids in to be the hardest thing, if I'm concentrating on work, I'm usually not concentrating on drinking anything - Ive never been a big water drinker to begin with but I'm not trying to get dehydrated - now that I eat about 8oz of food a day - that is not going to cut it How do you get yourself to remember to drink?

Try taking a sip every five or ten minutes.  That is what really helps me.  I read and make jewelry to get my mind off food when at home. It does get challenging to focus on other things besides food.

Girl, I feel ya!  I miss that too...and I'm over two years out.  I haven't found anything to replace it...it's just a way of life now.  I struggled with getting the water in for a long time.  I found that I have to keep a bottle of water at hand at all times.  I just sip/drink on it all day...even when I'm not thirsty.  At first, I didn't even like the crystal light, now I love the Walmart SF flavor packets so that's what works for me.
Hope that helps.

For me prior to WLS I was not a total food addict...It was what I ate and how much...Now at almost 4 months out I can eat many things just in smaller quantities and I make good choices to help my weight loss along...I love the Carribean cooler nectar protein with Rasberry ice crystal light...It taste like juice and is more of a treat to me than anything...I have it every morning...I usually do not eat snacks during the day but if I do it might be some SF applesause or 2 wheat crackers...Them ost I drank in one day I think was almost 40 ounces of water...The only way I can do 60 is if I have a protein drink for dinner instead of real food...I will talk to my nut about that on my follow up next week...Good luck and take it one day at a time.

Thanks all!  I realize I am just going to have to suck it up and drink every 5 or 10 minutes - maybe I will set my alarm - that should annoy me fairly quickly and hopefully make this a habit.  As to the other, I think its a part of the price I pay for this new life.  I'm probably just mourning food and will get over it sooner or later.

Hey Ms. S:
Have you tried not eating anything solid after a certain time of the day (say 7 PM), just drinking liquids after that time until bed (including protein shakes).

Relative to keeping your mind off of food at home...HOBBIES; get a couple of indoor hobbies and 1or 2 outdoor hobbies.

Hey Rhonda, you have so much in this posting that I can relate to.  I will be returning back to work on Monday however today I am missing some of my friends (soda, chips, fat etc)-sry for the food porn.  Like yesterday I went to get my hair retwisted and one of my parstrmami spots is right on the corner folks were ordering and I was proud of myself that the desire passed over so I believe today will not be any different.  I just love a cold pespi or sierra mist sigh, hope today is better for u in all areas,
I pray to always remember newbies
