OH Virgin in the ATL area
Do you know which type of surgery you want to have; the Duodenal Switch or the RNY? The type of surgery you choose will kind of decide what surgeon you may want to be referred to. There are only a handful of Surgeons in the Atlanta area that des the DS, Dr. Maynard in Conyers and Dr. Dennis Smith in Marietta, but there are several RNY surgeons in the ATL. I would recommend not limiting yourself to surgeons in your general area look for a surgeon with experience and one that you feel comfortable with.
Thanks, all!
So I went to a new PCP today (wasn't feeling well, so I didn't go to work). Lucked up and got in versus waiting until end of June.
He was real nice. We discussed my weight (272). I asked was he opposed to GBP. He said not at all, would support me with a couple of caveats: that he knows something about the surgeon (said he prefers Dr. Dennis Smith - gotta research him) and I try to get some off since I'm feeling miserable in the joints. He gave me a rx for Adipex - I told him I think I took it and it made me feel crazy... but I can't remember... Should I do this if I'm trying to have GBP?
Also gotta get tested for sleep apnea...

I've taken Adipex several times over the years. Take it exactly as prescribed. You will probably get headaches the first week or so and not sleep very much. I spent my sleepless nights cleaning. After about 2 weeks the medication will level out and you feel normal. Funny how I never knew what normal felt like unless I was on diet pills and after WLS I feel normal and not sleeping all the time.
Adipex will take weight off but it only works for about 6 months before your body gets used to it. The doctor then usually changes you to a different class of drugs that works on different receptors in your brain. The problem with diet pills is that they will take the weight off but can you keep it off. I always lost weight on diet pills but couldn't keep it off.
Good Luck!
