My surgery is scheduled for tuesday (4/7/09) and just wonder if I can have braids in my hair during the surgery because on my paper work it says to wash your hair the night before and the day of the surgery.  I know this should be my least worry but just needed to know bec I dont want to deal with fixing my hair. If anyone out there had braids in there hair on the day of surgery please let me know. Thanks

Gurl - them instructions is for 'pink' folk - LOL - you should only do that IF you wash your hair every couple days cause you will NOT be in the hair washing mood right after you get cut!

Get your braids or whatever else - you can keep your hair as you usually have it - just know you won't be very interested in styling or taking care of it for the first week or two of your recovery.

Good luck and congrats to you!!!!

I had braids when I had surgery and I'm glad I did.  I didn't have to touch my head or worry about what a mess I looked in the hospital.  Also came in handy when I first came home from the hospital and only wanted to lay in bed all day.

Yeah I had them and the pink lady who did my preop testing told me not to worry about doing all that washing. She has mixed grandchildren and said she knows that our hair is different and it would be okay.
