Men generally only need 8-11mg of iron daily (this can easily be obtained from food).  Most multivitamins designed for men include only very small amounts of iron.

Iron toxicity is very serious, so unless you get labs done post-op and there is a shortage.  No additional iron is needed.

Iron is most important for women due to their monthly cycles, I'm pretty sure you won't need to supplement this, but to be on the safe side check with your doc.

Dude, it IS possible for men to become anemic.  Anemia isn't gender specific.  I never used take iron tablets, either. Until I went to my surgeon recently and found that my red blood cell count was lower than it should be.  Thus, I was put on iron tablets.

Do yourself a favor, MM. When next you go to ur surgeon (or you may be able to call up and speak with a nurse practitioner or whatever), find out all the vitamins you may need.
