Couch to 5K, Week 7, Run #2 NEW MONTH NEW FOCUS

Morning Yall

Today is April 1,  so for me that meant getting up early doing my run which was KICK AZZ !!! 

This is a new month and it means I am going to kick it up a notch in trying to accelerate myself forward to reaching my goal.   I will run faster, I will eat cleaner, I will stay positive, and I will make my goal. 

I got that nike plus thing that works with your ipod and it is really awesome.   You put it in your shoe and attatch it to your ipod nano and it calculates all your running stats and I love it.   So now that I have that I don't even have to worry about finding a 10K podcast cause it makes all your music a podcast with voice prompts and everything.  (thanks jorjandu for the tip on that)

For those of you that are struggling why don't you re-commit to doing it harder and faster as of this day.  This new month.   I always push myself but i'm going to push a little harder today.

Oh and get this,  I will be wearing my "bathroom jeans" to class today.   I wore them all day yesterday to try to get use to jeans that fit my body because I like them falling off me, but that will come.

I am really excited about what I can do in April.    Let's make big stuff happen yall.

I have got to tel lyou how proud I am of you.  I went running monday and boy did it kick my a$$.  But I will be back at it today again.  I want that nike thing did it cost alot?

Thanks Roxy I always tell people how proud I am of them and it's nice to hear it said to me every now and then.  

The nike plus cost me $29.99 at target, and I got a arm strap on sale for $8.00 that fits my nano perfectly.  There was no way I was paying 30 bucks for the nike one. 

For the sensor that goes in your shoe I took it put it in a zip lock bag and rolled it and put it under my shoe laces.  It works great.   Here is the youtube video where I got the idea.

Hey Lee I forgot to check in yesterday.  I did Run 1 week 5 yesterday...no problems!!  Just FYI if you have a Nike Shoe and it says Nike+ (lift up the insole) there is a place for you to put your Nike+ sensor.  I had no idea it took your music and made prompts.  Well I guess I will invest for when we start the 10K.  Notice I said we?   By the way did you get my emails?  I can't email you the Nike 10K trainer so if you BL me with your address I will burn you a copy and send it to you.

Congrats on Week 5 run 1. 

I didn't want to spend the money on the nike + shoes so I just have my regular running shoes and the zip lock bag trick is working marvelously. 

Yes I got your email and i'll send you my address,  but with the nike deal you can play your own music and when you want to know how far your running just push your middle button on your ipod.   It is pretty cool.   But I still want the cd though.

Yeah that 10K needs to be on hold until we do our 5K.  LOL.   Oh with this thing you can set it to run a 3K,5K,10K, half marathon, marathon, triathalon.  It is pretty useful.

Lee- I'm so proud your running faster and longer and that you are enjoying the Nike +.  I was struggling to get out today but I hit it just before dinner and completed my first run of week 6.   Guess I got a little ****y after the 20 minute run on Sunday.... thinking why are we going back to walk/run intervals LOL After tonight's run, my body is thankful.  I'm kind of scared of week 7 so I'm glad that you are succeeding!!!  I'm totally up for progressing to 10K ...but like you said once I complete the 5K LOL

I'm so proud of everyone for doing a good job.  All this week I have been feeling depressed and I don't know why.  I know that it has everything to do with my weight and adding to that I am supposed to go to Austin this weekend and I didn't loose any weight. I used to feel good about myself back in the day and now I just don't feel pretty at all.  I 'm glad I came across this post.  I wanted to know if it is to late for me to start running with y'all.  I goggled info. about beg. runners and found a site called real women running.  Is it the same info. y'all used.  If not and it is not to late to start could someone send me the information.  I think I will feel better if I had someone who can feel my pain and struggles.  Well I am not going to bore y'all anymore..Thanks for listening.

Thanks girl and yes I am enjoying this nike+.   Week 7 is not bad at all it's just 3, 25 minutes run but by the time you get to week 7 you have already run 20 minutes so you can totally do it. 

I am so happy i'm doing this program, so so happy.

I like what you said about eating cleaner and kicking it up a notch.... I too have been kicking it up by exercising more and going back to basics on my eating.... 2 protein shakes per day and a sensible/healthy meal.... green veggie and lean or grilled meat (usually fish or chicken)
I don't get to post much, but I'm still there... still with you...

Yeah I am eating mostly fish and chicken myself and a lot of vegies and i'm not skimping on my carbs because my body gets really tired and worn out when I workout a lot and so I need enough carbs to give me energy. 

Glad to see you are eating cleaner also,  I think it will yield both of use good results.
