it depends on how feel about the person. If its just a booty call/purely sexual, kill that. However, if you care about the person and want to build something with them, by all means stick it out.
The thing about sex is that it is not inate.. nor does the same thing work for everyone. Sexual technique / compatibility, whatever, in my humble opinion, is learned. What I may do to work over Woman "A", for example, Andrea, may not work with you. I'd have to learn what stimulates you.
The unfortunate thing is that many of us, as men, think that the "cookie cutter" approach works (one size tickles all) and it doesn't. Not enough of us take the time to read the signs our partners' bodies give off... non-verbal communication, in my mind, is the best communication, for a person's body will tell if what you are doing works or not much better than the verbal (many are to scared/nice/whatever to say what they are actually thinking). The other thing is that some of my brothers are sexually lazy. Many feel its enough to just jump on and ride like they're mounting Seabisquit; their idea of foreplay is five words: "Get on your back, woman!" To the man who is vested in pleasing his partner/mate/booty call/whatever, he is going to do what he can to bring enjoyment to his partner.
As for you teaching, not everyone who thinks they are teachers are qualified to teach. lol. Hell, some that think they can teach don't even really know their OWN bodies or fully appreciate all that pleases them.
