Gone with the wind...

Hey all,

Last night I went to the gym straight after work.  Hadnt been all weekend because of other obligations so as you would imagine I was anxious to get my workout on.  Unfortunately my gym at that hour is always crowded.  For just $20 a month can you blame anybody trying to get fine and save a dollar.    So just as I thought all the machines were occupied.

I rapidly searched  the gym floor looking for anything open. Had the music in my ear getting me psyched for my workout when I looked up and there was one  sitting by its lonesome. I was like thank you God....you always supply all my needs...... even in the gym.

Anyway I quickly jumped on that sucker, and immediately input my data thinking the quicker I start,  the quicker I can be done. I prefer to do the eliptical first to get the hard part out the way.  I had my playlist going,  and was stepping away anxiously awaiting that first bead of sweat to hit my brow which usually confirms that Im doing my thing.....when instead I felt a  cool burst of air.  I was thinking " wtf"   Im too young to be cool flashing........  I opened up my eyes and took myself out of music zone and saw a big metal blade oscillating  fan smack dead infront of the machine.

I was like dayummmmm how am I gonna get my sweat on infront of a fan ??? .  I didnt want to get off the machine and move the fan cause I knew someone was gonna take the machine soon as my back was turned. I also didnt want to get into a fight with anybody bout the fan who might have preferred for it to be there. But I have to admit I felt slighted cause Im at the point where Im used to sweating while I work out. In fact if I dont sweat I feel like Im not working to exertion.  So all I could do was keep on working in the wind so to speak.  Picture me stomping with an attitude at this point.

My question is which do you prefer ???  Does it matter to you ?  Why are there fans in the gym ??  Doesnt it defeat the purpose ???  Does  the cool air  keep you from burning calories as you should ?

I dont mind the breeze as I pass on the way out the gym doors, but not while Im on the machine...I feel cheated with my crazy self.  When I sweat, I feel like Im doing my part to help  melt  the fat like a stick of  butter in the microwave.

The fans are supposed to keep people from overheating, I guess.   Me? I would have turned the fan in another direction...left my sweaty towel on the machine first, of course.  lol.

You got a point there about people not overheating.

But I thought the heart rate monitors are on the machines for that very reason too.

Sadly,  I didnt have a towel....or my water bottle like I usually do.

I was rushing when I packed my gym bag.

I tell you going to my gym is like stepping in a war zone.

You gotta be  prepared for whatever.

When I went to this elite spot in Jersey.....it was never like this and they provided towels and free pre arranged body massages as well.

Sure do miss that kinda stuff.   Thanks !

My point exactly....Im used to the natural breeze as I sweat...not some fan.

People kill me trying to be comfortable at the gym. Thats a place for straight up bidness.

I aint trying to be cute or cool.  Im trying to make it do what it do.......

fans don't bother me...i actually like 'em.  i have one on my treadmill that always gets turned on.  i still sweat if i'm doing what i'm supposed to be doing.  i also measure how long it takes for me to cool off after the workout.  for example, if i did my thang on the treadmill and after i take a shower i'm still sweating...not THAT's a workout!!!  otherwise, it was like a waste of time.

glad you didn't let anything get in the way of your mission last night.  keep doing your thang!

Thanks Shontay....see when you got a machine at home....its all about adjusting it to your comfort level.  I aint mad at you.......

But at a public place....thats kinda hard to do I guess.

Would you believe I was in the lockeroom for like 20 minutes trying to remember my combination lock.    My brain aint what it used to be.....must have did that thing like 100 times before I  I finally cracked that code.  I was tooooooooooooooo happy.

Im trying to really put the work in so I can achieve my goals this time around. Cant let not even the little things  stop me. I see you doing your thing as well.   Congrats on being so close to the century mark. I am as well.  And losing this weight  will pay off  in so many ways.

Stay encouraged

LOL I am sorry this is a funny story. I have no answer to your question since the inside of a gym hasn't seen me in like a year  I know I know that has to change....

Leave it to me...to find myself thinking the craziest of ways about the wierdest of stuff.....

Girly thats gonna change for you very soon  like maybe 8 weeks post surgery. You are gonna be feeling so good and motivated to do what you have to make your tool go the distance. Trust that.

We can talk about it when you get there......and then you can chime in on your feeings. I didnt always feel this way.......in the beginning I was one of them cuties that didnt want to do too much.
Now I find myself  wanting the results of the gym so bad that Im willing to take all the bad of it to get to that point.  I even have my hair braided as we speak.....its just  all apart of my master plan.

Summer is coming
