Like seemingly all other behaviors, they are learned. Oftenwise, while experience is the best teacher, many of us are not the best at taking these experiences and learning from them.

I also want to add that the people that dont appreciate us, or you or whomever are most often the ones with the issues.
Be it insecurity, ego tripping, greedy, ignorance, selfish, sex addicts, player mentality......there are a many number of reasons why people cheat. Its not always about what " We" didnt bring to the table.
Many times its what the other person is lacking and trying to compensate that makes them stray or underappreciate what they have.
I am living proof and I pondered for many years on why my " thug " couldnt get with all of me.
Quite honestly, he couldnt handle all of me and it was just easier for him to get with the project chick who was already somebody's babies momma cause that is what complimented his lack of ego.
Im so over him and anybody else who cant appreciate my good stuff. Their loss...and my gain because it brought me to a greater level of awareness about myself and made me elevate my game.
Simply put Im the " bomb " and his teeny weenie lackluster flame wasnt strong enough to keep us ignited. He's blown out and long gone and yet, Im still the " bomb "
In life, and especially on this journey there are sure to be days when you falter and give in.......just remember to never give up. 
And, i'm working on that lunch date, fellow Vz worker. :)
