Can You Spare Some Change Brotha/Sista?

The late great comedian Robin Harris said that whenever somebody would ask him for spare change he'd tell em to go get a spare job.

What say you?  When people ask you for change, do you give them money?  Have you ever given a "homeless" person a sandwich instead of money?  Do you think that people on the streets are really hustlers who beg on the corner all day and then hop into their Benz or Jag and drive to their penthouse countin your money on the way?

Speak on it.

It just depends, sometimes I do and then sometimes I don't.

I remember one time going to this restaurant in SW Atlanta called The Beautiful, (anybody in ATL knows this place is really, really good)!

This bum outside asked me for money for food, I told him I'd buy him a plate.....that bum said "oh no, my sista that line is too long".   He had a lot of nerve, lol.

It depends on the day and my mood. If I see and ABLE BODIED person on the corner - MAYBE

Someone on the corner with a kid - MOST DEFINITELY

I was leaving the liquor I mean the store the other day and a guy kept asking me for change and after so long I felt so bad for him I gave him fifty cents.

I believe there are hustlers everyday street corners, churches, etc. I wouldn't be surprised if someone was "living it up" off of donations.

Can I get a dollar???? They roll thier eyes and walk away. If I gave a $1 to every crackhead out here in DC I'd be broke erryday!!!!

  I saw my sister do this once and I almost fell out....

My husband did the same thing in Paris (which is literally crawling with beggars).  I just about died and made him give the money back.

after the local news did this investigational piece on some people that stand around with the signs, i don't give 'em nuffin!  come to find out this reporter followed a couple of the hustlers from their post to their CAR and then to their HOME.  turns out, one person who agreed to be interviewed on camera says he can make 60k a year beggin...WTH??  i've been done with that every since.  however, if i see someone who i feel is truly down on their luck (ie lookin' thru dumpsters or on the side of a road lookin' for cans), i'll give them a lil something.
