Charleston, SC

I will be in Charleston, SC for business next week.  Anyone familiar with the area?

I used to live just North of there in Hanahan, SC.  Nice area.  Would suggest to check out the historic down town area.  Nice majestic old homes.  There's a nice waterfront that looks out to a couple other islands.  It's called Battery Park.  Really unique eating and shopping opportunities down town; you'll need to park your auto and walk.  Plenty of seafood bars and grills.  You can also get a horse and buggy carriage tour.

You can check out the various islands also.  Beaches are just minutes away, although the waters there are choppy.

Not sure about the clubs downtown, but there were a few when I was there.  Never got to them.  North Charleston had a few clubs.  NC had some problems years back but it had gotten better by the time we left.  Acutally the mall is in N Charleston.  Nothing fancy.  There are the regular restaraunts there (i.e. Olive Garden, Chilies, other places and movies).

I think you'll like Charleston.  Check out the nice view when flying into the airport.  You'll see  how the river curves in and around the city.  Neat!!!

I would go to Hyman's for a nice seafood meal.   Bring 10 of your friends to help you finish the plate...LOL.  Huge portions.  I couldn't finish a meal there before surgery.  If you have a fridge, you'll be fine!  Also, check out the market with the basket weavers, etc.  Nice sites.  Look up some stuff on line.  You can visit old plantations, etc.
