New Post-op Tip of The Day
Today's tip has been debated by different programs for different reasons but I like to err on the side of caution since I chose to have a risky surgery to save my life.
This tip is to avoid carbonated drinks. Now some programs will tell you it stretches your pouch and others will say it doesn't. Whether it does or doesn't, is not my tip today. What we know for sure about these fizzy drinks is that they cause gas pressure and an uncomfortable feeling in your pouch. This pressure can rupture staples and sutures of new post-ops. These drinks offer no nutritional value at all and with the caffeine they can leach the calcium from your bones.
Water is your best friend right now and can provide you with all you need, even if you don't want it, in the beverage dept. Drink up.
