Hi BAF,
I am in the process of going through the motions for the lap band.  I have my husbands support and my best friend.  I have neglected to tell my mom who lives with me, because she is so negative about this type of situation, however, she is basically the only family that I have here.  So I know at some point I will need to tell her, but I just don't want her in my ear negatively!! I have made my decision and I am doing this for me.  I have made a lot of friends here and respectively read the board everyday.  Some of yall are crazee (lol) but you tell the truth.  It is so much love here that I felt the need to ask for your help..

and welcome to BAF.

I didn't have a problem telling people about WLS.  But I can understand when people choose not to tell because of reasons similar to yours.
I would suggest waiting to tell her a day or so before your scheduled date for the actual surgery.  Unless you're up to hearing the negative talk.  Maybe she will come around if you explain to her that this will ensure a healthier life for you.

Good luck!

Hi Ms Millie:
That's a difficult situation.  It's hard to ignore mama when she's living in your house.  You don't sound definite about the surgery --- i.e. "going through the motions."

I wish you the best whatever you decide to do.

Yes, I'm definitely sure.  I goingthrough all of my doctors appts right now.  I get anxious at times and then other times I'm at a low, just because of the process, but all of the balls are rolling for me.  It's actually like a rollercoaster, I actually got scared in the beginning because everything was moving so fast.  Now it's just gradual.  but I know that I have to go through this to get to where I want to be.  Reading the board sometimes discourages me since I haven't got to that point yet, but I stay here because there is true guidance.  I appreciate ya!!

Stay encouraged.  You will get where you want to be and this time will seem like nothing.  What do  have to do next?

Well toninght I go for the first part of my sleep test, next Friday the second part and then the following Friday I get the results/and or treatment.  Monday I go back to my doctor for the 2nd month of my 6 month diet plan.  On April 16, I go for the dietician/exercise appt. so I guess after that I play the waiting game, not sure of what happens after that.
