Hi my name is Apryl. I'm not new to the sight just new to this board. I know that someone has proboley allready answered this, but I wanted to know what products can I use on my hair to keep it from shedding so much. I am 3 months out now and my hair is starting to shed bad. Any help would be greatly apprciated.

Nothing seemed to make much of a difference for me when mine started coming out.  I just had to wait it out.  It does get better though.  My hair is not relaxed, and it grew back in so thick it was hard to handle.  I got so tired of fooling with it that I cut it all off and started wearing wigs.

With summer coming I'm thinking about letting it grow back a little bit and going wig free.  Still debating on what style to wear.  I hate relaxers...

Apryl....well unfortunately...I can't offer any advice either. My hair never came back fully but perhaps I might have been the culprit in part....did not do what I was suppose to do.  Whatever you do take in all of your regimen prescribed by your doc.  I now wear a very low fade and wigs. Its still worth it to me and I have no regret...continue to love yourself regardless of the hair issue.... I hope that someone can post something that will be a better response to your specific question. Glad to meet you.

Hi Apryl and welcome to BAF!

Try Dr. Miracles products and biotin vitamins.  Also, make sure you get your protein in.

Hot oil treatments and conditioning seem to make my hair healthier. My hair shed in the second month, but then I trimmed my hair and watch out for pony tails that are tight. I would go for a low maintenance style. I also you biotin each day as a supplement.

Hope this helps.

Not sure on how much of what so I will answer to all:

Hot Oil Treatments - bi weekly
Deep conditioner - weekly
Biotin - once daily 1000 mg

Someone on OH stated to not use chemicals in your hair for 6 months after surgery...Whew! I am attempting it and well, I have a lot of hair that I relaxed. Now, I am 3 months out and I am going to color my hair with Henna. I can't stand the gray streak I have...so all nature products are what I use on my hair. They are more expensive, but are we not worth it?
