New Post-op Tip of The Day
It is very important to keep your follow-up appts. with your surgeon. This keeps you on track, gives you an opportunity to ask questions, get your labs done, speak with your NUT, and talk with your exercise physiologist. Even if you're at goal, there are problems that can come up at 2 yrs. down the road so you need to follow-up with your appts. I found out at my 1 yr follow-up that I have bone loss even though I take 1500 mg of calcium everyday but now is the time for me to get treatment to reverse this problem.
Wls is a life long commitment and we should be willing to put in the work for life with whatever is needed. Know that complications can show up at any point on this journey and know the symptoms so that you know when to call your surgeon. Keep that contact so that he/she will be there when you need him/her.

As a new post-op call your surgeon if you develop a fever at least 101 or over, shortness of breath, severe unexplainable leg pain, pus or heavy blood leaking out of your incisions, you can't keep fluids down, dark or tarry stools (could indicate blood) and uncontrollable pain. I'm sure there are more but those are the ones that I have paperwork on.
