HAIR LOSS Question/Rant
So this is probably for the Postopers...at least a year or so out. I noticed alot on OH that people cut their hair short after the weight loss. Is this b/c of the new found flyness or the fact that their hair fell out beyond repair and got so thin they just couldnt handle it? Or is it a combination of both? In either case, my hair is falling out alot. You know everyone says in the beginning it would, but i was thinking, hell-we lose 1000s of strands a day anyway, what difference does it make? Well not! When washing my hair and blow drying it each week I have enough hair to start my own line of AA barbie dolls. Then every morning when i comb it (with the fish comb) out of the wrap into my bob, i could then start another line of treasure trolls. Im thanking the Lord for thick hair b/c its not as bad as it could be...but, wow. How long is this going to last? B/c by christmas, ill be looking like Ol' Girl from "Im gonna get you sucka!" when she took off her leg, butt, and wig! Should I start the rogaine treatments now?
I would love to ask my surgeon, but most of his patients are white. HOnestly. Our hair is different so i want to know how we deal? I dont live in a place where braids and decent career minded weaves are prevalent, so what are my options? Maybe I just want someone to tell me my wonderful thick hair will return!
What are your hair stories? HOw is your hair now? Any advice? Products?

LOL!!! I cut my **** cause it was falling out and thinning out - PLUS I knew I could rock the short do cause I had JAWBONES again!!! LMAOOOOOOO
I am using the Dr Miracle stuff nowdays - just started using it last week to try and see if I can help my hair out - it's real think on top and I have some temple issues too. I had VERY thick hair pre WLS - it thinned out and has never come back fully - and I take vitamins and whatnot very regularly.
Everyone is different - most folk I have talked with have seen some change - but not bald or anything - but just different......

First let me say I feel where you are coming from. I'm only 4months post op and my shedding is bad. I have a hair appointment next week to cut mine off!!! I would rather cut it, then to comb it out handfuls of hair at a time. I have very thick hair, and it looks good still, but it kills me to see all my hair lying on the bathroom floor. I, like MM am using Dr. Miracle and Aphogee Shampoo and Conditioner.
I wish I had advice to offer you but i dont. Keep ya head up and pray pray pray

Well mine did shed. I'm almost a year post op and I FINALLY cut mine. I actually cut it because it was TOO thick even with the loss early in the beginning. Plus, I wantd to try something different on my new frame.
I loss hair until probably about 9 months and after month 6 it definitley shed less each and every month after that

My hair started to shed around 5 months out it came out really bad. About, 9 months later it stopped, I am now 17 months out my hair has started to grow back and is growing back nice and thick. I can't say it did not bother me to see my hair thinning, but I have ALWAYS like to change, color, cut, weave, wig my hair. You mentioned there are not a lot of options for you getting to a beautician for weave, you might want to purchase a really nice wig. If you are not a weave/wig person, I would suggest getting a wig style that is very close to your own hair style. I can't suggest care products, I use a variety of things, just pretty much keeping my scalp washed and oiled. I take my Biotin daily and drink water.
Hey girl, this is a good question cause I am also 4 months out and I hate it even when the wind blows cause even before WLS my hair was damaged and I had a lot of issues but it always got better so I hope that this time it won't give out on me.
I have started using Motions-CPR shampoo and conditioner as well as Olive Oil-deep conditioner and cCholestrol-hot oil treatment and I just hope it does some good I don't want short hair. No matter what though, I am just glad to be shedding the pounds cause they got too many cute wigs and weaves. LOL
Hopefully you will be one of those who get their hair back.
