Introduction back into the World
With my upcoming surgery I am excited about alot of things!
One things I promised myself was that I would cease with being a hermit and get out and live the rest of my 20's like its a never ending party (obviously once I have fully recovered). And I was wondering did anyone have any difficulty with it?
No matter where I would go people always would tell me "oh wow your so beautiful" "your very attractive" etc but that didnt help with the fact when I looked in the mirror I saw a fat face and a big stomach not to mention that my knees are so bad that I cant wear heels (the clear heels...if you know what Im talking about have since collected dust) and I have no desire to go anywhere but to work and home.
So I am looking forward to having the strength and desire to venture out and do stuff...
Did anyone have to reaquaint themselves with dating, partying etc? And if so how was the process?

Umm if you're single...girl you won't believe the difference!!! All the men that wouldn't give you the time of day before will be up in your face like "don't I know you from somewhere?"
Then when you tell them who you are instead of sayin "DAMN YOU LOST HELLA WEIGHT" they will politely say something like "did you change your hair?"
Also, beware that you're "fat friends" may start to avoid your phone calls and not call you back. They will not want to go out with you because "now she think she all that since she lost weight"...which you WILL be all that so they can hate on
No worries though you will meet new and better friends...and the friends that were TRUE will stay by your side through thick and thin..LITERALLY!!!

Oh yeah it's going to get much MUCH worse for those haters...poor them
I always tell pre-op people the same thing...WLS is 10% physical and 90% mental...so get your head right!
Now that is not meant to be offensive it is exactly what I stated. WLS is a journey and not a destination...make it your own and get out of it what you want. The changes that you will undergo are not just physical but emotional, spiritual, and mental as well. Your mind will play tricks on you...and although WLS changes the size of your tummy, it does NOTHING to your brain. Therfore you will still *want* to eat but physically you can't...it's a mind trip! You will also see the scale go down in numbers but then look in the mirror and *think* you still see the same fat girl staring back at you...again a mind trip. BUT we will be here for you and you will do wonderfully...stay positive and follow your doctors instructions![](http://images.obesityhelp.com/_shared/images/smiley/msn/bighug.gif)

I thank God for OH, even though I found it after surgery. If I knew back then what I know now, I think my experience would have been a better one. Going to see a therapist is the right thing to do, cause this thing is a TRIP!!
