Black Marriage Day is March 22, 2009!  Our theme this year is First Comes Love:  Guiding Our Youth to Marriage.  Join us as more than 300 cities across the country organize events to celebrate marriage in the Black community.  There are many things you can do for Black Marriage Day 2009.  The emphasis this year is involving youth in your programs.

Organize a Black Marriage Day First Comes Love Film Festival.  Encourage youth in two categories, high school and college age, to tell the story of how marriage looks in their community.   Allow them to be a mirror for your city.  Educate them on why marriage matters.  Everything you need to have a red carpet event like applications, flyers and press releases, can be found in the BMD Kit.  If you don’t want to organize your own, have youth enter the Online Film Festival. version.

You can also induct couples into the Black Marriage Day Marriage Hall of Fame.  Many cities held fabulous events last year that told the joy and pain of couples struggling against odds to have wedded bliss.  We give you everything you need to have a memorable event.

My past and present positions does not define me as to who I am;
But, they are mere stepping-stones that will lead me t
o who I am to become.

Sounds like an interesting idea.

Now we just need to have a "Not All Black Men Are Triffling Day".

But, all jokes aside,  black love DOES still exist.  I think, for the most part,  there are those of us who have walls built up from past disappointments and percieved failures.   The key, I believe, is in having the faith/strength to not only pull down the walls, if need be, but to recognize when someone isn't for us and to act accordingly.

I'm glad to see that ur faith is restored in Black Love.  I've always believed in it, thought, admittedly at times my faith gets shaken.  :)

"When Alexander saw the breadth of his domain, he wept for there were no more worlds to conquer."   Plutach.  Not true, for there are always more worlds to conquer.
