Hi BAF! Wow...I have been gone so long..I hardly recognize anyone. Well I am pleased to meet everyone. I guess I will start off by giving a brief update on my situation. I had my RNY back in 2004.  I was 306 pounds prior to surgery. I am back to admit that I was hard headed. I did not heed the warnings of so many on this site back then (i.e Cookie Luscious and others). I thought that this surgery was going to be a miracle cure and that I did not have to do much work to lose the weight. I still wanted to eat for pleasure and refused to exercise because it felt like torture.  I tested my pouch to the limit.  What I quickly found out was that I could tolerate certain foods without getting sick.  This lead to a major downfall and I not only reached a plateau after only 70 pounds lost but I actually started to gain. I stopped taking my vitamins regularly and other suppliments as well. What I quickly realized was that I was trying to commit suicide.  Well I have no problem admiting my fault and humbling myself so that I can have a chance at life.  Not to make excuses but I went through a divorce and had some other crisis occur. Rather than seek healthier alternatives I turned back to food to cope with the pain. So...I do now realize..its not just about the physical but the mental as well.

Over the two months.. I had an awakening.  I realized that i did not want to celebrate another birthday as an obese woman.  I am not going to kick myself for wasting the time but instead decided to get back on track and be proactive. The first thing I did was go to Walmart and purchased myself an MP3 player, stocked up on my protein and signed up on 3 different sites (including OH) so that I can track my intake, activity and weight.  I have lost 20 pounds since my birthday..which brings my total weight loss to 93 pounds. I am well on my way...and feel more positive and determined to meet my goal and get my cosmetics before my next birthday.  What a way to celebrate!!!

If I could do one good thing as a result of my past failures, it is to tell all the newbies out there to follow your Dr. regimes to the "T".  You will experience serious health repurcussions if you do not.  As a result of my disobedience, my hair is thinning and I had started to have back problems which I feel is a result of a calcium deficiency.

Since I have started to work out....Yes..I actually have been working out...I feel energetic and unstoppable!!! I loaded my MP3 player with all of my old Jams...some from my high school day... Anyone remember Electricity by Midnight Star. Well when that song comes on...you should see the heads turning at the gym...they can't believe that this big gurl can move like I do.  i work our 3-5 times a week and try to get in at least 30-45 minutes cardio (treadmill, bike).  I am up to doing 2.5 miles in 30 minutes.

Well...I just want to thank everyone for being here and for all the support that you share on the board.  If you know any good songs to add to my play list please let me know. God bless you all.

Thank you so much...yes its been a journey indeed. One thing I can say for sure. I would do WLS all over again...without it I would probably been dead already. I said goodbye to diabetes and have not been on medication for it since. I am loving my life now. Keep up your good work!
