Does Your Mate Treat You Better
After having WLS...I ask this because I see many women (at one time myself) having issues over having the surgery...and they think that you would leave them afterwards...My spouse knew that it was a possiblity that I would leave him period if I wanted to...He knows that my self-esteem is over the top and weight could never hold me down...And to answer my question I am treated the same by him thus far...I can see him being more overprotective in the future when it is all said and done but I would think that some men/women would treat their SO better so they would not leave them...which is stupid in my eyes.

i have noticed alot of insecurity on his part. He has not changed his atitude toward me, however he makes sure that HIS stuff is together, cause he knows that i get alot more attention from men since my weight loss. He also makes little comments here and there but he doesnt treat me any different. He knows as long as he continues to be good to me i aint going anywhere
i used to have to fuss at him "why dont you get a haircut" "why dont you shave" but now... he makes sure he is looking /smelling good all the time, Gear is fresh and all that...lol.. it's actually kind of cute to see him taking more concern with himself so that my eyes dont have to wander. But my eyes dont wander anyways (even though he thinks they do)

Good topic, Isa! My partner has always treated me exceedingly well. She's always been very territorial and protective of me, but not in a crazy/deranged sort of way. Her behavior has not changed post-op. If I act up & get beside myself, she'll pull the rein in a bit, but that's how it's always been between us. And it totally goes both ways.
Hi Isa:
I think insecurity cuts across all lines. I have noticed that the closer I get to my WLS date, the more argumentative my Partner has become. Earlier in the process she mentioned her insecurities, even though she wants me to be healthy and normalize my weight. She is beautiful with so much going for herself, and we have a long, good and satisfying partnership (over 5 years). I just can't wrap my head around why she would feel insecure about US! I just don't get it.
Do you think that there is something "different" about the needs...of persons who choose overweight/obese people as partners/spouses/SO as opposed to those who connect with a partner/spouse/SO when they were "normal" size and then the person became overweight/obese during the course of the relationship?

Hey ValueMe...My fiance got upset with me once and that was when I told him that "I was going to be poppin"..lol..He was so offended...But he got over it and now we are good...I guess it is the same as being slim in the beginning of a relationship and then gaining weight...
