Question for the BAFers in TX
I live about 40 minutes north of downtown in Frisco. My primary reason for living in Frisco opposed to other areas is hands-down the school district. I was looking for an area with top-rated schools and found it here. Consistently, Frisco is rated in the top 10 school districts in the entire state. The city itself is diverse and my son has a wide friend base. I love that it's still convenient to other parts of Dallas via the Tollway which is roughly 5 minutes from me but also has enough to do right here. We have Ikea, a nice mall, tons of stores, a great WholeFoods type grocery store and lots of nice parks, walking trails, etc.
I grew up in Dallas, moved away for a considerable time and then came back 3 1/2 years ago but will be moving to Orlando in the summer.
Let me know if you need any info. Dallas has consistently been a great place to raise children, buy an affordable home and pays decent.
The winters are also very mild which will probably be a nice change for you.

I just moved to Abilene, TX from Detroit. I love it here. Not too big and not too small. I hear the schools are great down here, but my son is currently in daycare and its ok for the time being.
Churches here on every corner and not a whole lot of night life going on here. People tell me all the time this is a great area to raise a family. It's basically an
air force base city. Dyfess Air Force Base is located here. Very diverse.
But I plan to move to the Grand Prairie/Arlington area in about a year. It's a little more 'my speed', with night life and more activities besides church socials. LOL!
