Valena the time to get a passport Now is about 4-6 weeks. unless you expedite the service you can get it sooner. When the passport requirements were changed in 2007 there was about a couple of months wait, I almost missed my trip.

there is now a passport card you can get to go to Mexico or the Caribbean that only cost $45 for adults and $35 for children under 16. it only takes 3 weeks.
