Sup Fam,

I've seen many post about how long did people take before returning to work. I know some took 6 weeks all the way to 2 weeks.  We all have various Jobs.

My boss told me if my Surgeon approves it, I can spend my recoup time working at home.  I asked her about that option for various reasons.  I know more than likely my surgeon may say no, but it don't hurt to ask.  My procedure will be on a Wednesday and I will most likely go home that Friday.

My job isn't physical at all, all I need is my laptop and a phone. So I can do it in the bed (no pun intended.

My questions is, do you think it's possible to work from home 5 days after your surgery. Oh, I'm having RNY (lap) .

G,

My surgeon approved me for 6 weeks out, but, honestly, I could have gone back to work maybe two weeks out.

When a person goes back to work, of course, is up to the individual.  As I have a relatively sedentary job doesn't hurt.  In retrospect, I didn't mind staying out because it help me take the time in adjusting my eating.  Who wants to do the trial and error (  ) while at work?

I say, If you are approved for six weeks, take them.

Daps D,

I hear you and thank you.  How do you feel about working from home during the time before you physcially go back to work?

i really didn't feel anything.  I mean, while home, as I said, I did my work but also got readjusted to my new way of eating...and even too time to do a lot of walking around the block.

I was only off from work for 2 weeks... I know one lady went back to work in 4 days... I wasn't doing that... I felt fine however... I wasn't ready... They had cleared me to be off for 6 weeks...

You should be fine working from home...

Thanking GOD for all he has done for me...

I had my first surgery lap , I took 1 week off and I worked from home the next week. I also had everything I needed to do my job at home. It was perfect because if I needed to rest it was no big deal from home. My surgeon was real cool about it and I did the same thing after my revision even though I took 6 weeks (it was open) I still returned to work by working from home for 2 additional weeks.

hey do you know if your surgeon is doing it open or laproscopic surgery?

all in all i think you will be fine to work from home.  do you have to make a definite descision prior to your surgery?

Dude,

I went back to work and school after only a week of recoup time.  You can work from home if you'd like but it takes a lot of discipline not to slack off and just sit around watching Jerry Springer, Maury Povich, and Judge Mathis all morning knowing good and dayum well that you need to get those friggin' TPS reports out (Office Work).

Talk to your surgeon.  Hell, threaten him if you have to but take as much time as you need to do what you gotta do.

Peace
