New to the BAF -Have a couple questions
Good Afternoon All,
I am new to the board and are looking to talk with others and get as much information as possible. I am currently only in the second month of my long journey. Per my insurance requirements I have to work with a nutrionist for 5-6 months before I can have the sugery, I have been diligent and goign threw all my testing to be ready and they hove to have it scheduled for the first weekend in august. I am working with the weightloss team at Sibley Hospital in DC and they have been wonderful.
I am trying to stay encouraged everyday and all thoughI am nervous about surgery I am ready for the healthier and better me.
Any advice anyone can give would be wonderful...I think my biggest concern is hairloss and flabby skin...How bad is it and is ther anything I can do now to help like lifting weights or takeing a vitamin.

Hey neighbor! Don't really have too much encouraging to say lol. You two main concerns are pretty much a crap shoot. Some people's hair fall out, some don't. Staying up on your vitamin and protien requirements doesn't hurt at all. I've read that some people's hair follicles are shocked by the anesthetia and that is one of the cause of hair loss/shedding. This sometimes happens in normies that also are put under during surgery.
Now for the flabby skin....also a crapshoot. But there are some factors that help/hinder flab. Genetics, age, stretch marks, how long you have been overweight, how much you have to lose, in addition to a few other things that right now escape me, will influence your batwings and such. Excersise does help, but if you don't have skin that will snap back you will just have muscles with skin hanging off. I plan on getting a mini-arm lift. I have zebra arms which show evidence that my skin has already been stretched beyond what it wanted to be, so total snap back is unlikely.
Good luck with everything, and the 6 months will fly by! It really won't but I wanted to pump u up a lil LOL
