Upper Endoscopy
They are only looking for ulcers. If they find an ulcer; you will be put on meds such as prilosec, prevacid, nexium; to heal the ulcer. Ask you not to eat any spicy foods, or anything that will upset the ulcer. So we are keeping our fingers crossed that nothing will be found!

Oh no it was nothing that had to be removed they just gave me some medicine to take for 14 days and then I had to come back have another scope done to make sure it was all good. My doctor said that if an ulcer goes untreated in a gastric bypass patient it can be dangerous. Now my current surgeon didn't require me to do an endscopy so... I don't know I guess its up to individual doctors.
I didn't have any symptoms that I could recall at the time. The only reason I found out was because they did the scope. The surgeon was primarily looking for a bacteria that is shown to cause ulcers called a H. Pylori. When they did the scope they detected this bacteria. But after they diagnosed me I found that some of the symptoms I had was a pain in my stomach. After I stopped drinking caffeine the pain went away.
