Upper Endoscopy

I have to have an upper endoscopy tomorrow morning and I am not sure what to expect! If anyone here had to have one before your WLS...how was it? Is it painful?

No it's not painful.  You should be  put to sleep with local anesthesia.  You will wake up with a sore throat!

It usually lasts a few hours or until the next day.  - I've had 4 done in a year..I am damn near an expert!  LMAO!-

An upper gi is the same as an upper endoscopy!

Have you deceided on what type of surgery?

I just wanted to say that an upper gi is where they have you swallow the white stuff and take pictures of it as it goes down. I've had to have a few of those in my life. The endoscopy is where they put the tube down your throat and look for things. I've had a couple of those done as well. My surgeon did not put me to sleep for the endoscopy, but did give me something to relax that made me groggy and I did have to have someone to drive me home.

I had it done, I was put under general anesthesia I only remember the thing they strapped on my face & behind my head and then it was over.

Your throat shouldn't be sore sore but more like scratchy sore. I had one done before as well and thank goodness they did it because they found a ulcer. So it should be smooth sailing I slept the whole day when I had mine done.
