I'm sorry about your job loss.  You 've got a great attitude though.  I'm a nurse and would be happy to answer any questions you miht have.  Do you know if you plan to go to an Associates program or a Bachelor's?

I am sorry to hear this. I feel your pain though, I was laid off on 2/4/09. I decided about a year ago that I wanted to become a registered nurse. I am finishing up my prereqs right now, this should be the first step for you. Science classes aren't excepted most places unless you had them in the last 5 years. I had to retake all of mine. I am now applying for entrance into the actual nursing programs. Best of luck to you.

HI KnS, sorry to hear of such bad news.  However, you are seeing the positive in this and that will make your transition (as you are doing) much easier.  Blessing and well wishes for you and your family.

My prayers are with you.  I'm not a nurse, but there's an excellent nursing program at the school that I attend.  The people in the program still have to take a lot of other courses, in addition to all the required nursing courses.  The nursing students usually take general studies and pre-requisite courses.

You can enroll in school now and get all the basic stuff out of the way before you move onto the clinical portion of nursing.  Don't worry about being out of school since 97; I had been out of school for many years before I returned.  It gets hard, but you can make it. 

I have a few friends that are in all aspects of nursing.  One is a nurse administrator and she takes care of the paperwork side and I have another friend that's a traveling nurse.  A few other are nurses for home health agencies and they have the most flexibility (they travel around the city to see patients in their homes)
