Sorry to hear about your job loss.  my husband recently lost his job and I know  what the strain of unemployment can have on a family.  Nursing is a great profession I have been a nurse for nine years and I love it.  I would look into the schools you want to go to and take all your Pre-requisites  while you are waiting to get in competition is fierce right now.My girlfriend has been trying to get in for a year and a half.  So many people are turning to the career in this economic downfall that there are not enough spots for the amount of people applying. so if you can get A's and B's in the pre requisites it will make you a very strong applicant.  If you have any question feel free to ask anytime
good luck!!!

Sorry to hear about your job.  I am sick at how Wall street and all of the Big Players in this is doing ok and we all have to suffer.

I am a Vocational Counselor and I think you are on the right track this is a good time to reinvent yourself.  You have nothing to lose.  Here is some pratical information on the Nursing field

A good thing to do is to make sure u keep up to date with all of the cutbacks that hospital workers  are going through right now.

Another  good place to look at is http://www.1199seiu.org/

Keep your Six Sigma certification current.  There are lots of Quality Assurance type jobs for nurses available if that is your area of interest.  With your credentials, you will be a very valuable asset to any healthcare organization.

Well ms Sassy I haven't been in school since 94. But as a RN we never stop learning. They (government ) makes sure of that with CEUs every 2 years. I am currently a forensic psych nursing supp. At a state HOSP. for the crimenally insane. Nursing school was fun at times and taxing always. The instructors treated us like we didn't have outside lives. I think that they were trying to weed out weaker minds. Many people didn't make it.  Good luck and keep praying.
