Hi Everyone,

I really can't remember after surgery, I remember just going to my room and make sure you request an eggcreat for your bed for your back.
Since 2-17-09 I start the clear liquid diet and as of today 3-5-09 I have not eaten nothing but that.  I can't keep much down water or otherwise, they said that the swelling in my stomach to my intestines is slow flowing.
So if I sip to much the pouch hurt and I have to wait quite awhile for it to go down,no gas though. I can only drink up to 16oz of water and maybe a popsickle once in awhile. Trying not to get dehydrated. when I was in the hospital my weight went back up to 311 from the IV but now I'm 273 today 2 weeks later ,  just a little tied but I still walk around so I don't get sick and stiff .  I did go to my doctor to get blood work the whole nine, and everything is still OK just have to keep drinking and they don't want to do anything because I am not healed yet it takes a lease 4 weeks so I'll try to hang in there until than.

I just want to put a new perspective on one of the complications that may happen.

I was in so much pain but not from the incisions.  I have a bad back and it was horrible being on my back on the table for a long time.  My surgery took longer than they expected.  The morphine didn't control the pain and gave me severe nausea and heroin itch( thats what I call it).  By the third day in the hospital I wasn't in too much pain and they changed my meds.  This was my third surgery and I wasn't as prepared for the pain as I thought I would be.  But I think I was the exception not the rule because many people say it wasn't that bad.  Or maybe I'm a bigger baby then I thought.

Hi BAF,

I am a newbie, and also three days post op. Waking up from surgery, I was just thankful, it felt like my stomach was tender and swollen, but the pain was not felt  fully until it was time for me to get-up and walk. The crazy part was that when I was rolled up to my room by this guy, he asked me if I could reach over and climb into the bariatric bed in my room. Me being so heavily sedated thought I could, but the nurse told him oh no you dont! Now that I am fully aware, I cannot believe that he would have allowed me to even try! Everyday seems to get a lil easier thank God for that! I just made it home yesterday and find my self trying to adjust. It's hard trying drink all that is required of me. I an constantly holding my stomach as I walk and the gas is getting better day by day. Tomorrow I will began my protein shakes guess I'm excited about that :)

That dayum gas pain......that is not something you can be prepared for.  Oh my GOD!  I woke up in that dayum recovery room kicking and screaming.  Begging my mom and my BFF to please get me some help. I have never experienced pain like that before in my life.  It takes my BFF to demonstrate to yall how I was wispering and begging "please God...help me". I thought for sure something had gone terribly wrong. It was all in my back.....oh my!!! It took me a while before I actually got it together. I spent that night(wedensday) up until thursday evening in the S.I.C.U .....later thursday night I went to my room. I didnt even wal****il more than 24 hours after surgery. This is an experience I will never forget.

Thank God for high pain tolerance.  I never had any pain at all. But for a brief minute I did think want the hell did you do.  Then a minute later I answer myself and from that day I never second guess myself about anything I've done since.
OH YEAH THING ARE MUCH BETTER HAVE NOT GOTTEN WHERE I YET WANT TO BE BUT STILL WORKING AT IT.
GOOD LUCK AND MY GOD BLESS YOU N YOUR JOURNEY
