When was your first time....
I followed the NUT post op plan to a "T" until she let me go at 6 weeks. From that point I began to add things back in moderation even ice cream and 100 calorie cookies. Now when I say "add them in". I didn't have them every day or even every other day but I have them in my house so if I crave it I can eat it and move on and not "test my wilpower" so that I overindulged when i finally ate it. I didn't add candy (hershy kiss here and there) real cookies and fried foods bac****il about 9 months out and that's even in moderation as well.
That worked for me and at 7 months out I reached my goal and now at almost 11 months I'm below both mu NUT and my expected goal. So, my plan worked for me. My mindset going in was I would make lifestyle changes that I could live with for life and so I don't want for anything and overindulge on nthing unles I'm really feeling "doggish".
What I will say is the reason you want to wait to "sample or taste" is because your body doesn't want, crave, or even know those things after surgery until you reintroduce them. Once you reintroduce the items that's when the cravings kick in. Right now your pouch is so small that you really can't afford to put anything into your body that is not going to either get yoru water in or get your protein in. Also, I beleive that when people talk about stalls or plateaus so early out its because they've added high calorie items back int their diet too quickly. Also, you add items into your system gradually for a reason----your pouch can't digest it would you give your 3 month old ramen noodes, chicken or hamburger helper would you?
To sum it up (I'm sorry to drag on) at 19 days stay on your doctor's orders because despite what we thought as preops you will be able to add everything back into your diet and incorporate it into your lifestyle habits.
