When was your first time....
Trying the foods that you really loved from before?? I'm about 19 days out and i've tried a few things, lil bites of my old favorites (hamburger helper, chicken, ramen noodles) Just bites, that was all i needed and i was happy. Not even a full serving, but they stayed, (i have had some other stuff that made me hurl, so i wont mention those. lol) But what were your old weaknesses and when did you try them out??

To be honest - I stayed away from everything for like 9 months or more. I stuck to my doc's plan like death was chasing me.
Stop testing the waters - work to stick to doc's orders - you will have plenty of time later to get back with 'old friends'.........

Hey Sis. Congratulations!!
I followed my post-surgical diet to a tee. I was scared as hell to deviate, and called my nutritionist every other day to get "clearance" about everything. It was months before I stepped out on my own and tried some of my old favorites.
I'm not sure what procedure you had, but if you're following your doctor's orders you should be good. You are following orders, right? If not, work on it now. Besides changing what and how you eat, this is the time to work on the behaviors that contribute to our obesity.
Continued success!!

AT 19 DAYS OUT I WAS STILL ON BLENDED SOUPS, TAKE IT FROM EXPERIENCE YOU SHOULD STAY AWAY FROM SOME OF THOSE OLD THINGS BECAUSE LITTLE BITES CAN TURN INTO LITTLE BIGGER BITES AND SO ON.......... GIVE IT TIME AND AFTER A WHILE YOU MIGHT REALIZE THAT YOU DON'T EVEN WANT THOSE THINGS ANYMORE, I USE TO LOVE PEPSI AND GUINNESS STOUT AND I NO LONGER HAVE A DESIRE FOR ANYTHING CARBONATED ANYMORE WHY? BECAUSE i HAVE NOT EVEN TRIED IT.
Yea I hear ya'll. I was jus wondering what everone was eating around this time. Naw its not like im craving all the things i used to want, cause lawd knows what i 'd do if iwas there again. But i literally mean just a bite of whatever i cook for the kids. Nothing more, no less, no fast foods, chips, candy none of that. just dinner. lol!! I had gastric bypass, and the foods that i sampled were pretty much approved, i cook the hamburger helper with turkey so i just had some of the turkey, and the ramen, was not even a hwhole bite. Lol! But thanks for your advice, and trust me im not going back to those things again. But i was never a really big eater, never had been. Just ate when i got bored. So wont be back up to my old weight ever again.
Lata yall!!

I didn't try my favorite foods until 6 months to a year out. And most of them I couldn't tolerate until I was a year out; and most of them I cannot eat them anymore. At 19 days out please be careful; because I was back in the hospital within 14 days after surgery for eating mushed beans that became stuck in my stoma!

Hey...I am about 11 weeks out which is almost 3 months and my Dr. advised that I can eat whatever I want in moderation...At 19 days out I was not testing the waters but @ almost 3 months I eat VERY healthy especially while @ work but I do eat things in moderation...I have had half of a chicken wing...a few fries (maybe 3)...little things but not a lot and very few times...maybe once or twice...I do stay away from fried foods and fattening things but once in a blue moon if I want a bite of this or that I have it but I am almost 3 months out...@ less than 1 month out I would be very careful...

I stayed away from testing foods that I loved before until I was about 8 months out and I should not have then either. PLEASE stick to the rules because you will be sorry that you didn't later on...trust me.
