Ok, my surgery is scheduled for March 17,  The nurse just called and informed me that I am anemic, and she is putting me on iron twice a day ASAP.  My question is has anyone surgery been postponed or rescheduled due to low iron?

Depending on your levels yes. Be sure to take the iron and eat iron rich foods. You might want to add some benefiber or mirilax to avoid getting constipated.

Yes.  I was anemic as well before my surgery.  My surgeon put me on iron three times a day.  I had to get my hemoglobin up to at least 13 in order to have surgery.

Yes ma'am.

I was so worried they would cancel my surgery, I was sitting in a Wal-Mart parking lot at 11:55 p.m. the night before surgery eating a can of spinach.

Congratulations and as others have suggested, eat an iron rich diet and take the supplements.

Peace and blessings!

Honestly

Yes, I did the pill 3x a day for a month and my numbers wasn't were my surgeon thought they should be. So he order me 2 not one iron infusions. My advise. Take the pills, eat some cream of wheat, liver aqnd whatever else you need to do.

Until that hematologist cleared me, I was not having surgery. Talk about tears. I called Vee crying and she told me do what they ask so that you will be as healthy as possible.

Good luck on your journey.
