Water and Pouch Size
Hey Fam. quick question.
After surgery, what the average pouch size in ounces?
also...
How do you guys get your water in? Do you do it quick, or early in the day? Does it take you all day to get it all down? How much can you drink at once(more on the lines with your pouch size.
I ask because I'm getting in the habit of getting my 64 oz in a day, but I can gulp 64 oz in one sitting and I know I won't be about to do that (or 4 16 oz sittings). I know I have to space it out, but I'm looking to hear about your experience on the matter.
OT: Walmart's Great Value Cherry Limeade Crystal Light knockoff is the SHO NUFF TRUTH YA DIG?

. My pouch is 4oz. When I was still in the hospital I could only drink 1 oz an hour, but you will slowly be able to drink faster. It took me a couple of weeks until I was able to do 64 oz a day, and that included my full liquid meals. Now I can drink at a moderate pace. I can't gulp, but I can drink 16 oz in about 20-30 minutes. Keep in mind that your pouch will act like a funnel for liquids so pretty much as soon as you drink it is funneling out. That cherry limeade is my fav!!!!!
I think different surgeons make pouches different sizes. You can ask your Doc about the size he will be making yours.
After surgery, you will not be able to gulp even 5 ozs, you will learn to sip, sip, sip at first. I'm 2 years out and still can't gulp like that. It's even harder too because you have to space it in between meals...not drinking an hour before and waiting an hour after meals....yes that sucks and is hard as hell to get used too....but you will get used to it.
I had a REALLY hard time getting all the water in at first....still do some days
I live off of those Walmart brand SF packets. I like all the flavors, especially pink lemonade and fruit punch. I use the cranberry apple with my vodka too.....but of course you don't have to know that part. LOL
It's really good that you are starting early because all the changes you will be encountering will not be easy to grasp all at once...it can be a little overwhelming.

I just figured out I can eat about a cup of food. I had a 1/2 cup of tuna and a 1/2 cup of cottage cheese for lunch of course that depends onhow dense the food is...I normally try for 60-64 oz's every day. If I start drinking first thing in the morning I can get 30 in the morning and 30 before I go to bed. I sometime jsut keep a cup beside my bed of water so in the middle of nigt I can roll over and drink.
