Other Weight Loss Attempts

I have to say I have tried several but was never been committed(1-2 days) to a diet (sad). I really felt bad prior to having surgery upon reading so many profiles where others have been trying and trying to get approved. They have tried all types of diets and still cannot get approval. Then I was referred by a doctor to have the procedure, I have never really put much though or research into having surgery. But,  I needed something immediately to reverse/improve my health.  So, as soon as I was approved, I scheduled the date.  Best decision for me.

When you devote yourself to achieving your goal, you will not be bothered by shallow criticism.

my doc told my mother to put me on a diet at 7 and i have been on a diet since. I have done too many to name...my most successful was atkins...in jan of 2007 i went from 296 pounds to 247 pounds in about 3 months...i decided i had done so well i would give myself a cheat day and never got back on track...ended up gaining most of the weight back... I too feel that weight loss surgery is still hard work and i still have to "diet" to be sucessful with it...but this time i feel mentally ready and im avoiding so many temptations its crazy!!!

I tried numerous things over the years - the only thing that worked the best was Atkins - I lost 80lbs!  I wish I had done the surgery right after I lost that much - I would probably be in the 150s if I had - but I was stubborn.  As soon as I had slice of bread - I gained 100lbs BACK - after that is when I decided to have RNY.........

I don't just have issues, I have subscriptions!  I'm saving on the newsstand price.......

^5...Trina I feel you on the one slice of bread=100 pounds gained immediately.

Diets that I made up myself

I was put on my first diet when I was 10 years old and had been dieting off and on until I was in my 40's.  What makes WLS different from the rest is it actually works!  I've been able to get to a healthy weight and keep the pounds off for more than half a minute.  The other good part is I don't have to worry about being hungry anymore.

For me the biggest difference is that I can't quit this.  With the other programs I tried, I was always looking for it to end or i got tired of not seeing results and give up.  This is the most weight I have lost in my entire life and I was so afraid that I would only lose my standard 30 lbs.  I was so amazed and thankful when I had reach that mark and bypassed it.
I wanted, needed and prayed for a real change in my life.  So far that has happened and I'm grateful, even when I don't feel like having a pouch that rules my life.

I ate right and exercised and lsot 50-80 lbs twice but always gained it back because I couldn't get the rest of the weight off and also psychologically I would turn to food as my comfort/food and the weight slowly crept back up.

I pray that this time is different I'm at goal weight and I've taught myself lifestyle changes that I will keep up for life lol.

Isa,  I tried everything all my life !!!

I have lost as much as 130 pounds pre-wls and gained it back !!

I went  to WLS  meetings in the 80's and should have went through with wls surgery at that time.

I finally had wls last year at age 50 !!

Because I refuse to  regain and struggle for the next 50 years :)
