Funny & true !
I guess old issues die hard for me.
My weight has always been a senstive issue for me Ro.
I have just never wanted to be defined by my weight....because I'm soooo much more than that and tried hard to show that to others every chance I got.
Given the fact that Im working on it.......speaks more about me than if I continued to remain that way I would think. Even though strangers dont always know that part of the journey.
In any case, I know I need to develope a stronger skin though cause ignorant folks are gonna always try to use whatever they perceive as a weakness against you just so they could feel powerful.
Its just the way it is !
I got to the point, like some others, I"m sure, that had I gotten ride of the blubber, I'd be "perfect". LOL. Of course, I know that isn't the case, but I felt it.
Nowadays, my daughter is a little chubby and every so often, my mom has little comments about how she's "getting heavy" or needs to "jog around the block a few times". The funny thing is that she acutally thinks she's HELPING Naja (my baby). It hurts her feelings.
The last time, I had to send Naja into another room, pull my mom to the side and tell her, quite frankly, that she messed up my head with that negatory junk regarding my weight. I had no control over that, being her son. However, this is MY child and I'll be damned if her head gets messed up the way mine was. I ended up telling my mom that if she continuted, Naja didn't have to see her grandmother any longer.
Mom was a little hurt, a little pissed at me, but the comments have thus far stopped.

That is why I just got taken aback by the fact that you still allow these things to be part of your thought process..I really am having a problem grasping that....LOL

"MAKE SURE YOU SPEAK SUCCESS FOR YOUR WLS INTO EXISTENCE EVERYDAY."
The funny thing about your story is that, of course, he wasn't gonna say anything about ur size because his girl would have been like, "Honey, do you think i'm a black bovine biotch, too?"
But seriously, I'm surprised you don't have more stories about jackasses standing in front of the doors on the subway trains. You have allllllllll this room to the middle of the cars, but the knuckleheads (i'm sorry, but ESPECIALLY the tourists sometimes) stand right in front of the doors, blocking you from coming inside. When you asked to be excused, they act like they can't hear you. Me? Hell, I push thru. 9 out of 10 times, they will just give a dirty look. That tenth time, however, is the one who is like, "Don't brush up against me."
Now, I'm not the get-in-your-face-go-toe-to-toe type. Especially in a city where cops just love taking target practice on all things black and hispanic (for me it's double jeopardy, for I'm a Black Hispanic-lol). So, my response is usually a curt, "Well, if you didn't want to be brushed against on a crowded train, especially when you are blocking the sliding doors, maybe you should have taking your limo to work.."
As for the little slurs that seem to go with the word "fat" it seems "black" and "fat" used to go together like "grits" and 'gravy" or "salt" and "pepper".
