and what types of food were you able to eat 2-3 months out...I definitely keep it healthier than I did prior to surgery and I feel much better eating foods that are good for me but I am not sure whether it is because I practice good portion control but my eating is not that bad...I can eat just about anything I want...(Have not and hopefully will not eat ANY sugars- Cakes, cookies, chocolate, ice cream and stuff like that)...I have a few chips here and there and indulge in a pickles maybe every 2-3 days...I am losing weight with good progress (55 lbs thus far as of 12/05) but I was under the impression that I would never eat good things again...I am very careful and stay away from Carbs and have them at a minimum...

How did you feel 2-3 months out? I am very interested in knowing.

Everyone is different...I want to say it's about 3 months out that you know what you can and can't eat

It is crazy because I feel like I can eat a little of most sensible things...I guess it is a good feeling because I will have good options as time progresses...who know...Thanks for the response.

There is nothing wrong with being able to eat almost anything... remember this surgery is a just a tool....you have to work it!

I am one of the ones that can't eat much and it is not a good thing... it really isn't...it totally sucks! Trust me when I tell you this...I want to have more food choices.. because eating the same thing over and over again is noooooooo fun!

I can dig it...Prior to surgery I talked with a friend of a friend who had surgery maybe 3 years ago and that was one of her only complaints...And I guess I went in thinking I would be the same way...I am only 2.5 months out so who knows how my taste will change in the next year...

I'm 2 months out and am down about 40 pounds.  Like you, I can pretty much eat anything -- except yogurt.    I've indulged in a few baked chips and do satisfy my deli pickle craving from time to time.  (I has lessened considerably in recent weeks!)  But, like you, I do NOT eat any sugars.  Nada.  And it's not for fear of dumping... it's for fear of NOT dumping and opening a Pandora's Box.

More specifically, I'm eating:  eggs, hot & cold cereals (Special K, grits, SF oatmeal), well cooked veggies, turkey chili, unbreaded wings (or wingettes, I think they're called), dark meat chicken, fish, shrimp.  ETA: SF pudding, some fruits, deli meat, soft cheeses, pita bread.  All in extreme moderation.

What does not sit well with me just yet is ground meats, for whatever reason.  The turkey chili doesn't sit well at times, but most often it's okay if I eat it really, really slow.

Thanks Double O...I have to try cold cereal (milk is okay with me..but I use Soy) and I have to have fish again...Ever since I tried it @ 2 months out and it made me sick I never had it again...I love shrimps...and I have had wingettes (just 2 did me fine)...I have had pizza 2-3 times but 100% cheese and 5-10% of the crust.

I have pizza on occasion too.  I just eat the toppings though and leave the crust (drives my kid crazy!).  I will eat just about any topping, but I steer clear of pepperoni and bacon. Just too much fat.

Hey Isa,

Like you I can eat most things in moderation ,but I have been sticking mostly to chicken and turkey products.  I do not do fried and try to stay away from the carb monsters.  I can do fruit and veggies anyway cooked or raw.  I do my protein drinks for breakfast every morning.  I love different types of salads with different veggies and vingeretti dressings in moderation.

Hey HF...I have yet to try any hard core beef but at Taco Bell or Qdoba I have a little beef w/ my taco...I may have a small taste of fried this or that but not often at all...I eat a lot of fruit and do not eat many rav veggies because of what my Nut suggested...I did have my first salad on Tuesday and it was perfect...
