I told no one what I was doing because I knew there would be a lot of negative comments,  no one really questioned me about the weight loss because  2 weeks prior to surgery I was in & out of the hospital having  different procedures because they though I was bleeding internally  because I was severally anemic and I simply told everyone I was have exploratory surgery so they would leave me alone.

Dang if you do, dang if you don't. I told everybody and their baby mama! Sure I got the  "you're not big enough" but I ignored them.

Stop worrying about other folk...it's going to get worse when you really start to lose the weight.

This is a topic I can relate to so well.  I think sometimes people respond this way in fear of the unknown and of course not being informed on the topic.  I was silly enough to think because I was excited my little 'circle' would be as well.  A couple of years prior to me actually having surgery I got the same responses not to mention the additional mean spirited comments.  It got to the point I was confused and paralyzed with fear on moving forward.  When I decided to tackle it again I chose to only tell my adult children and husband.  To this day I do not discuss it with anyone.  I feel since I don't discuss other medical issues with people this would be handled the same way.  Best wishes to you on your big day.

Time to say, " talk to the hand cause the spirit ain't listening." My daughter and I choose to do this together but for different reasons. I was tired of all the insulin injections and other meds. She wants to loose enough weight to join the military so they will pay for medical school.  We heard the are you sure and you not that big. Well since you are not caring this weight then please don't tell me how big I am or how I feel.  I did this for me so I could be healthy and if I'm healthy and hot so what? Now some of those same people sying now you to skinny, you don't need to loose any more weight. Besides God can't get the best out of me if I'm sick and got body parts trying to quit. So my friend this is definitely all about you and what's best for you and not about those who just bump their gums.

Hey thurr,
I can truly relate but will admit that my  revision support has been much better. My loved ones saw how crucial it had become and we all knew that they would not want to be providing me with 24 hour care AND I didn't want to land in that predicament, so everyone fell in line and the support has been spoiling me this past week.

Girl, just read my profile...LOL.  It's out of date but it's relevant.  I was a supposed lightweight like bamsmom as well.  Do you and watch their mouths drop when you're doing the damn thing!!!

Sweetheart, like everyone else stated, its your life and ultimately you have to be happy with you

because you have to live with the choices you make. I had the surgery and am 2 weeks out. It is

a life changing experience. If this is what you want, go for it and don't let anyone keep you from

your goal. You know what you want to achieve, so stand strong and remember people fear what

they don't understand. Continue to educate yourself about WLS and it effects, and as everyone

else has said: you don't have to justify yourself to anybody! I commend you on your choice and

my support and prayers are with out as you proceed on your way to better health. I look forward

to seeing you on the loser's bench!!

*I* personally don't mind when people tell me I don't look big enough to have surgery. At least in their mind I don't look as fat as I think I do. LOL. I know what my numbers are and if they want to think I weigh less then I let them.

What I don't like is when people insinuate that I won't be successful with the surgery. I get you have poor eating habits now what makes you think its going to change after surgery. Duh if I had good habits now I wouldn't be having the surgery.
