Just Be Thankful For What YOU'VE Got!!!

This has touched my spirit today. I've been trying to teach this lesson to my kids. I feel so bad that they don't have what their friends have but I'm on disability and we have bills stacked so high that I'm surprised I haven't been sued. I pay what I can. My kids don't understand. My daughter told me the other day that her only fear in life in financial instability, that broke my heart. We were financially stable until I got sick at 30 and had to stop teaching at 32, we didn't plan for the future but I have a relationship with the ONE who holds our future.

I've raised my kids in the Lord and not in the fancy designer clothes. I'm thankful that they are very smart and use their brains. I'm thankful for all that I have and the love that surrounds me. DD this was beautiful and just resonated in my soul today.

Know that they eventually will understand the true meaning of what it means to be thankful for what you HAVE...and will thank you for instilling such values in them.

Love that surrounds...the best kind, indeed!

I was just speaking about that to my mom last nite... I have always been one to look in other ppl windows depressed and complaining about what they have and why not me (im not ashamed to be honest on here either) but through this whole journey to WLS I have discovered that when you arent thankful that actually being disrespectful to God....we each have our own blessings like we each have our own path carved out in this world and I had to open my eyes to see that...

So thanks for the wonderful words of encourgement and have a bless filled day!!

Hey there,

I made a concerted choice that through God, I would help others to LIBERATE THEMSELVES!  The words I shared yesterday were meant to do just that - to help us liberate ourselves from the type of thinking that hinders our blessings!

I am grateful that you have been honest with your feelings - we have to humble ourselves, first.  And you have taken a step in the right direction toward the blessings that are yet waiting for you!

Let me say this to you...case in point...I had wls almost 6 years ago.  I was 350 lbs., I am now 245 lbs. (NO...I AM NOT ASHAMED TO TELL IT...IT'S THE TRUTH...this after going up to 265 over the past 2 years - which means, I have lost 20 lbs.) My lowest weight after surgery was 220 lbs. - I NEVER made it to onederland.  But, do you think I am complaining - oh no....just take a look at my before/after pics below!  Am I mad because I see others who have lost well over 200 lbs. and have made it to onederland...NO!  I just thank God for MY blessing...the blessing of not having shortness of breath walking a half block; the blessing of my asthma symptoms being in check; the blessing of my knees not hurting when I walk; the blessing of my LIFE, HEALTH AND STRENGTH...WHEN I THINK OF GOD'S GOODNESS...and all He's done for me...I'M BLESSED...AND HIGHLY FAVORED!

Not ashamed of MY blessings,

DD

Hey Donna, I love your new avatar AND PASTOR DI'S -- you know I can feel you on your post.  I think the big reminder for me is the state of our economy.  We all have much to be thankful for.  God will never leave or forsake us.
