I would like for us to have a Mardi Gras Meet & Greet next February.  Festivities and Parades begin in January and they really kick into high gear the last two weeks prior to the actual Mardi Gras Day.  The height of party is the last long five-day weekend from February 12th through Mardi Gras, February 16th.

People travel from all over the world to attend the actual Mardi Gras Holiday.  My suggested time to avoid the “major crowd" (like the one in the picture on the profile) would be to have our M&G on February 5th-7th 2010.  We will avoid some of the rush at the airport and the traffic congestion by having it this weekend.  However, you will still get the “Mardi Gras Experience" because as stated above, the festivities kick into high gear the last two weekends prior to the holiday.  There is so much to do in NOLA … you have the French Quarter/Bourbon Street, clubs, karaoke bars, casinos, shopping, Mardi Gras Balls and Parades, plantation tours, riverboat dinner cruises, awesome restaurants with authentic Cajun cuisine, museums, aquariums…and most of these are within close proximity of each other.

I had already somewhat started planning months ago but I wanted to wait until today to announce it.  Hotels fill up rather quickly, most of the time 3-6 months prior to the event.  If a Mardi Gras M&G 2010 peaks your interest, please click on http://www.obesityhelp.com/member/mardi_gras_2010/

to request to be added as a friend.  More details will become available at a later date if enough people are interested.  Thank you.

It was nice meeting you too.  One of the many that I wished to have had more time to chat with.
I know there will be other chances!

Good Morning, Cher and Joc-a-mo-fee-na-nay :-)

Happy Mardi Gras to you too (I have Rebirth on a loop in my Ipod all day today)

You know I'm always down to go home (although personally I would prefer actual Mardi Gras weekend).  Whatever date the larger group decides on, Im in.

What you giving up for lent, lady?  It took a lot of soul searching and anguish on my part, but I decided to give up diets this year

Have a great day.

Hey Nicci!

I don't know if I am giving up anything for Lent or not.  I am not Catholic but I "usually try" and give up something.  I will have to make that decision rather quickly today.   You have a great day too.

Morning, Faith.

I like that idea.  Complete with party with masks, beads. etc.
