need to come clean
Ashley.....
It takes a strong person to admit this to the board. Know this.....we ALL are struggling...even the ones that dont appear to be. Even the ones that made it to their goals, or the ones that have lost a 100 lbs already. Struggling to get it off and especially to keep it off.
I'm one that I believe is also comfortable with being heavy. Or least I was......til I realized that being heavy isnt healthy. Plain and simple. I used to think that somehow the weight protected me from all the things that Ive never been able to handle. Mainly, the attention from folks that wanted to exploit me either sexually, financially or socially. I dont know if you can relate or have something else going on.....but regardless....this is a never ending battle.
How bout.....using dailyplate.com and being more mindful of what you put in your mouth. I use it and love it. I also find myself writing down the reasons why and when I eat in a diary or blog of some sort. Start getting in grip with your emotions. Thats the only way to work on the issue. And to hopefully come to a resolution for it.
The surgery is not the end of your troubles with food. Its really the beginning of working them out. A therapist and nutritionists sounds like a great idea as well.
Wishing you the best of luck
ETA : You dont have to totally eliminate carbs from your diet either. I know the surgery encourages protein and you should definately follow those guidelines by getting your recommended amounts of protein in daily. But soon enough you can eat and enjoy healthy carbs as well. These would include whole grains, oatmeal, wheat bread, sweet potatoes, fresh fruit & vegetables.............in moderation. Honestly, its not realistic that we can live our lives without carbs completely for the rest of our lives. Trust me......you can begin a healthier relationship with these foods and still get your sweet satisifaction from these things. Its about changing your lifestyle gradually so that you can be a successful at keeping the weight off. Love, trust and believe in yourself enough to give the tool a chance. You can do this !!!!!

Plum is soooo right. Even if they don't post the struggles, we all have them. Just don't beat yourself up over it....make that change to commit to trying your best to do all the things necessary to change your lifestyle.
The more you praise and celebrate your life, the more there is in life to celebrate. - Oprah Winfrey
Hey Ashley...You definitely have strength to recognize what is going wrong in your life right now...I usually ignore my problems because I hate to face them...My advice is to take find someone to visit a support group through your surgeon and see what the outcome is...Good luck and I am here if you need me.
